‘BIP’ Fans Are Calling Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty a Publicity Stunt
It seems that Bachelor in Paradise fan favorites, Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty, can’t catch a break. They are proving that life after paradise is never easy. Not only have they been subject to homophobic critics because they are Bachelor Nation’s first same-sex couple, but the status of their relationship has constantly been called into question simply because they’re choosing to take a more private approach to it. Now, some fans of Bachelor in Paradise are accusing the couple of faking thier relationship for a publicity stunt.
Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty are still engaged
Fans began expressing concern about the relationship between Burnett and Haggerty weeks ago. As quite a few weeks have passed since they graced one another’s Instagram pages, fans were concerned that they’d called it quits. But, Burnett managed to quash those rumors in a recent interview with Us Weekly. She clarified that the couple was still engaged, but had no intention of broadcasting every detail of their relationship with the public.
The couple is still together and taking things at their own pace
“If you just jump into it and just rush everything, for me personally, that’s not how I could have a successful relationship. I have to definitely take it at a steady pace. We’re definitely just dating right now. There’s so much going on for both of us that it’s like, ‘Oh, planning a wedding right now just sounds so intense.’ So we’re definitely taking it slow and just enjoying our time together. We’re not too far apart. I think it’s important to kind of have our space just so, you know, we can develop a normal, very solid, steady relationship,” Burnett shared about building a super solid foundation with Haggerty, especially following the accelerated pace of Bachelor in Paradise.
It’s nobody’s business
Burnett continued on to say that though she and Haggerty were in different places geographically, they still managed to make time for each other and grow their relationship. “Every relationship is different and it’s like — I mean in the most respectful way — it’s nobody’s business how our relationship works. We both have so much going on right now. She’s in Florida, I’m in New York but we do spend time together. Just because we don’t broadcast it doesn’t mean that we’re not together,” Burnett said firmly.
From paradise to Florida and L.A.
Of course, Burnett is back in Los Angeles now, but it seems Haggerty is still in Florida if recent Instagram posts are to be believed. A trip to visit family could certainly be a reason why the pair haven’t been seen together recently. “Feeling extremely grateful for all my amazing friends & family during my trip to FL,” Haggerty captioned her most recent Instagram picture. “FL is great n all but it’s time to get back to LA,” Haggerty’s friend and Bachelor in Paradise alum, Tayshia Adams, commented. “Soon v soooon,” Haggerty wrote back.
BIP fans speculate on Instagram
But, despite all the evidence that suggests that Haggerty and Burnett are still very much engaged, some fans are convinced that they aren’t together. In fact, some people are going so far as to say that Burnett and Haggerty faked their entire relationship for 15 minutes of fame. “So it was all fake that reality show … and this relationship,” one critic wrote under a picture of the couple. “Why don’t you guys ever post with each other? You guys post with everyone but each other. Was it just a publicity stunt or are you together,” another fan questioned. “But yall broke up…wanted to get famous from a tv show is what it seems like,” another person chimed in.
Life after Bachelor in Paradise
There are hundreds of comments like the aforementioned ones on both Haggerty and Burnett’s Instagram pages. Fortunately, the couple seems to be taking it all in stride and not allowing the gossip to affect their relationship. We wish them the best of luck going forward in their engagement. Hopefully, they will continue to do what works best for them.
