‘RHOA’: Is Kenya Moore Quitting Nene Leakes’ Friendship?

Kenya Moore is back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta after being off for a season. Her return to the Bravo reality show comes as she and Nene Leakes had a major fallout. The housewives are at odds with each other and have publicly aired their grievances about one another in the press. Moore had some harsh words for the OG of Atlanta and their relationship seems to not be repairable.

‘Nene Leakes is dead to me’

Moore and Leakes’ problems stem back to the season 11 finale of RHOA when the former showed up to a party that was organized by Cynthia Bailey. Leakes felt betrayed by Bailey as she was blindsided by the appearance of Moore at the event. They both ended up avoiding each other as much as they could.

“Clearly, if you watched the season finale of season 11, clearly she’s very bothered by me,” Moore told Bravo Insider. “I still don’t know why, but she is threatened and bothered and she doesn’t want me anywhere around, so it was very clear.”

Following the premiere of season 12 of the reality series, Moore was a guest on Watch What Happens Live. The housewife was inevitably asked about her feud with Leakes and she took the bull by the horns.

“The answer about Nene is absolutely not,” Moore said. “I think she’s pretty much dead to me. When someone tried to spit on you, I think they’re not ever gonna be friends with you. So, yeah. That’s pretty much done.”

For now, Moore seems to not want to have anything to do with Leakes and is completely over her friendship with her.

Nene Leakes reacts

On Sunday night, Leakes was busy retweeting fan reactions from the premiere and the after show. One of the tweets she retweeted addressed what Moore said caused the ending of their friendship.

“I’m sorry, I just don’t believe Nene Leakes would try to spit on Kenya. It doesn’t sit well in my spirit. And all the Nene shade is coming off like Kenya is trying a little too hard,” the fan tweeted.

Although Leakes is not friendly with Moore, the former does admit that she is good for the show and doesn’t particularly have an issue with her.

“I think Kenya’s great for the show,” Leakes told Us Weekly. “So I didn’t feel any kind of way other than, look, I’m here on the show. I’ve been on the show for many years and I want the show to stay around for the next 10 or 15 years.”

Nene Leakes goes missing

Viewers that tuned in to the premiere of RHOA were disappointed that Leakes was not featured. Fans were annoyed and aired their discontent on social media, which Leakes retweeted as it was airing. Although Leakes is one of the stars, she will not be seen until the third episode.

“I was sitting here trying to work my contract out,” Leakes told People. “There were a lot of rumors around the time and I was really skeptical about what I was going to do. I really didn’t know what I was going to do, I really didn’t. I had one foot in and one foot out.”

Leakes is excited for viewers to watch her in action and promises to continue to be the “same person.” The actress is also grateful for the platform RHOA gave her to project herself in different areas of entertainment.

“I kept it real and I say it like it is and I’m really blunt. So those fans, they have meant everything to me. They’ve embraced me for who I am and carried me through some of the harder times,” she added.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta will continue to air new episodes every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
