Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s Custody Battle Might Get Ugly

We hope these two can work things out. Separations and divorces are always hard — especially when children are involved. However, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s divorce seemed to be pretty amicable for the most part. When the pair announced their intent to go their sperate ways in April 2018 they said they had “lovingly chosen to separate.”

For the sake of their young daughter, Everly — the duo wanted to make sure that they remained a united front while keeping things as civil as possible. However, though they are now officially divorced and in other relationships, they are still having some trouble coming to certain agreements about their baby girl.

Unfortunately, a new court petition proves that their custody battle could turn ugly.

This is the reason Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan decided to divorce

Though they didn’t reveal much about their breakup after announcing their intent to divorce — Dewan got vulnerable about her decision to end the 12-year long relationship in her 2019 book, Gracefully You: How To Live Your Best Life Every Day.

“I’d come to realize the dynamic I was in wasn’t serving me nor was it serving my daughter,” she said in her wellness book. “First and foremost, I had to accept the realization this isn’t working and had moved into hurting. The public saw Channing and I in this idealized romanticized light. This made things difficult for me because I like being as honest and real as I can.”

Channing Tatum has asked the court to set up a custody schedule for himself and Jenna Dewan

Though they are no longer a couple, it appears that the actors are having trouble managing the custody of their six-year-old daughter. Now Tatum has asked the courts to step in to help. According to TMZ, Tatum has asked the court to “create a [custody] schedule for various holidays, including Thanksgiving, Halloween, Winter break, daughter Everly’s birthday, Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.”

The Magic Mike actor is asking to make sure that their 50-50 custody agreement holds. He also asks that “each parent to have consistent FaceTime with Everly.”

Have Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum been fighting over custody?

Both Dewan and Tatum have extremely busy schedules and Dewan is currently expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Steve Kazee. Certainly, all of this change hasn’t been easy. However, in his court petition, Tatum is outlying some of the conflicts that he and Dewan have had. “Due to our constantly changing work schedules, we have had conflict over adjustments to our schedules to ensure both parties are able to have equal time with our daughter, Everly,” he said.

The actor is also requesting a co-parenting counselor to help with scheduling matters. He also wants permission to take his daughter out of school for 5 days a year for special “work-related” occasions. “[Jenna] and I are fortunate to have employment that offers us unique and once in a lifetime opportunities,” he said. “I would like to be able to share these experiences with Everly and believe that Everly would benefit from getting to take advantage of such opportunities.”

We hope they are able to figure this out.
