Did Charlamagne Tha God Break up The Breakfast Club by Interviewing Gucci Mane?
Fans are concerned that Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club, a syndicated hip-hop station with disc jockeys Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, and DJ Envy, will break up following Charlamagne’s decision to have a solo interview with Gucci Mane.
The rapper has been publicly feuding with Charlamagne’s co-workers because he claims they banned him from the show. When the radio personality interviewed Mane, he said some unsavory things about Yee and Envy that had people questioning Charlamagne and his loyalty to his co-workers.
Did Charlamagne make the right decision, or will the interview ruin The Breakfast Club?
Gucci Mane is beefing with Angela Yee and DJ Envy
In 2016, The Breakfast Club interviewed Gucci Mane, and the rapper accused Angela Yee of being “on his dk” live on-air. However, Yee adamantly denied Mane’s accusations and claimed she never had his phone number or made any sexual advances towards him.
After the interview went viral, Mane said Yee banned him from ever coming back on the radio program. In mid-October, Yee and Envy addressed Mane’s claims that he’s banned from the show on The Breakfast Club Court.
The DJ also brought up tweets from 2013, where Mane bragged about hooking up with popular women in the industry. Upset with Envy and Yee, Mane did an interview with other Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God where he called Yee a b***h and said he was going to “slap the s**t” out of Envy.
Angela Yee and DJ Envy responded to Gucci Mane
In the interview, Mane said he would not apologize to Yee because he doesn’t think he did anything wrong or meant to disrespect her. Mane also called Envy out and told him to “bring the dog he’s always talking about,” because the rapper wants to confront the DJ.
Envy posted a picture of himself, fittingly with the dog he’s always talking about, and claimed Mane is not the first artist to threaten him and probably won’t be the last.
Envy also clarified the rumors that Mane is banned from The Breakfast Club, explaining he said he would not interview the rapper unless Yee cleared it first.
Overall, he believes that Mane is upset with him for allowing Yee to defend herself on The Breakfast Club Court. Even though she did not post about it on social media, Yee liked a Twitter comment from a fan “warning” her about Charlamagne Tha God, saying he’s a co-worker, not a friend.
Fans criticize and praise Charlamagne Tha God for interviewing Gucci Mane
Some fans criticized the radio disc jockey’s decision to interview Mane because he knew the rapper had beef with his co-workers and allowed him to call them names.
They believe he chose business over loyalty and now will most likely have an awkward working situation with Yee, someone he has to see every single day.
However, hurt fans and critics accuse Charlamagne Tha God of not caring about his co-workers and would willingly throw them under the bus if it gets him ahead.
Other fans praised the radio personality’s decision, explaining Yee and Envy had not defended Charlamagne Tha God when several rappers came at him, including the infamous Birdman viral moment.
When viewers listen to The Breakfast Club or watch them on YouTube, it’s clear that Yee and Charlamagne are not the closest friends. Additionally, the New York Times best-selling author has already explained his relationship with his co-workers and said they never hang outside of work.
Therefore, his fans believe his loyalty should lie with his family and personal goals, not necessarily with Yee and Envy. Did Charlamagne Tha God’s choice to interview Gucci Mane potentially break up The Breakfast Club? Hopefully not.
