Cher: “The Problem I Have With All the Boyfriends Lately Is…”
The Goddess of Pop, The Queen of Comebacks, The Queen of Camp, or The Queen of Reinvention – no matter which nickname you favor – when it comes to the living legend that is Cher, her musical career and multi-generational influence cannot be denied.
Whether you rock out to “Half Breed” and “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves,” or prefer her later hits such as “Believe” and “If I Could Turn Back Time,” Cher has definitely had her fair share of success. With Mamma Mia 2 still clear in her rearview mirror, this Diva doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
People Magazine sat down with Cher to discuss her nearly six-decade-long career, her personal relationships with a few Hollywood elites, and whether the actress is currently active in the dating scene.
Cher: A history of famous male encounters
After a long marriage with Sonny Bono, whom she married when she was only sixteen years old, Cher went on to date several other famous Hollywood men. From Val Kilmer and Richie Sambora to Tom Cruise, Cher has crossed paths with various musicians and actors.
Cher told People Magazine that she and Tom Cruise still stay in touch; however, she went on to explain, “I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.” So, when it comes to the controversial topics, it appears that these two stay clear, as to keep all interactions PC.
Cher once told David Letterman that she “almost” dated Elvis Presley, but goes on to explain that she chickened out. Her nerves got the best of her. While Cher’s past dating history is fascinating, many are curious as to whether there’s currently a man in her life. The short answer may be “no,” but the long answer tells more.
Cher doesn’t love how a social media-crazed culture has transformed the Hollywood dating scene
When asked about her current relationship status, Cher stated:
“I’m still on the lookout. The problem I have with all the boyfriends lately is that I don’t want to go any place with them because you can’t keep a relationship going in this kind of goldfish bowl, where everything you do and every picture you have taken will be on Instagram. There’s no way to keep something… special.”People Magazine
While Cher likely shares the same feelings that other Hollywood figures share, it appears that there may be a man (or men) that’s she’s entertaining, as she has a problem with “all the boyfriends lately.”
So Cher, just how many men are you keeping in your view? How can you have a problem with a bunch of guys if there aren’t any? While this is all speculation and Cher may be a single lady, she also has reason to keep a relationship under wraps, for once the paparazzi catch her, it’s all over.
Throughout the interview, Cher also discusses her relationship with Allman Brothers’ frontman Greg Allman, and – though admitting her admiration and love for the man – explains that his drug problem strained their relationship. Cher may have risen to fame when psychedelic drugs were all the rage; however, she says that she and drugs were never really a match.
If she and drugs were a match all those years ago, Cher probably wouldn’t be rocking it as beautifully as she is at 72 years old.
