‘Child’s Play’ Star Aubrey Plaza’s Net Worth And How She Became Famous

Star of Parks and Recreation Aubrey Plaza has a new film coming out. Since the series ended, she has been very busy, but this is definitely a role that could bring her to a new level of fame. Here’s what you need to know about how Plaza has made her mark in Hollywood, her past gigs, and her estimated net worth.

Here’s how Plaza got her start

Plaza graduated from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2006, having studied film. From there, she got a job as an NBC page, and actually appeared in a Season 1 episode of 30 Rock as a page speaking to guests on the set of Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Additionally, Plaza did stand-up comedy to help get her career started.

In 2009, NBC’s Parks and Recreation began, in which Plaza starred as April Ludgate, a college intern who is generally apathetic when it comes to her job at the Parks Department. April begins to change when she falls for Andy Dwyer, a shoeshiner in the building. The two get married and April becomes more invested in her job, eventually finding a position she loves.

Though Parks ended in 2015, Plaza keeps in touch with her co-stars such as Amy Poehler and Chris Pratt. Speaking to Ellen Degeneres on her show in June 2019, she said, “We’re all so busy so it’s not like we see each other all the time. But we have a mass texting chain.” Plaza added, “It’s like we’re all still spiritually, technologically connected.”

Plaza has continued to act on the big and small screens since she gained notoriety from Parks. She has starred in films such as The To Do List, Life After Beth, and Addicted to Fresno. She also had a recurring role on Portlandia.

Since Parks ended, Plaza has starred in comedic movies Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and Ingrid Goes West. She also had an arc on Criminal Minds. Plaza currently stars as Lenny Busker on the FX series Legion.

How her new movie is like Black Mirror

Plaza is currently promoting her new movie, a remake of the 1988 horror film Child’s Play. She portrays the single mother of a boy whom she gifts with a red-headed doll named Chucky, which turns out to be evil. While Plaza says that the story is “very close” to the original, there is one major difference.

“The update is really with Chucky. Chuck is no longer a possessed demon doll. It’s now a smart doll,” she said. “So he’s connected to the cloud and he can control devices.” Like Black Mirror, the theme is how “technology can be evil,” so to speak. “[It’s] something that I thought was really cool. Because I don’t really want to be in a movie where people are stabbing me,” she added.

What is Plaza’s net worth?

For someone who has essentially only been in the business for a little over a decade, Plaza is doing very well for herself. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she is said to be worth approximately $6 million in 2019. And with the potential success of films like Child’s Play, this is a number that is likely to only continue to grow.
