Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Getting Ready to Launch Their New Network and Fans Can’t Contain Their Excitement

The last episode of Fixer Upper may have aired over a year ago, but fans are still hungry for more Chip and Joanna Gaines. The Waco, Texas, couple turned their rustic farmhouse style into an empire, with a magazine; a line of home furnishings sold at Target; a shop, restaurant, bakery, and B&Bs in their hometown; and multiple books. And soon they’ll be coming back to TV

The new Magnolia network arrives in October 2020

We’ve known for a while that Chip and Joanna were planning on returning to television. Chip made the unexpected announcement back in November 2018 during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Since then, a few details about the new network have trickled out. It will be called Magnolia, and according to a Dec. 16 post from Joanna, it will launch in October 2020.

The new network will replace the existing DIY Network. Discovery Inc., which owns the DIY Network, has said that Magnolia will be a “total rebrand,” according to People. It’s not clear whether any of the network’s current shows will find a home on the new channel.

After more than a year without fun-loving Chip and level-headed Joanna on television, fans can hardly wait for the couple’s return to cable. Joanna’s post announcing the network’s launch date garnered nearly 270,000 likes and a ton of supportive and excited comments.

“Congrats!! So excited!,” wrote Duck Dynasty star Korie Robertson.

“I’m on the ship. Ready for take off,” commented Adrienne Bosh, the wife of former Miami Heat player Chris Bosh.

Many other commenters noted that they were “so excited” about the new network and that they “can’t wait” to see the couple back on television.

The Fixer Upper couple is the force behind the Magnolia network, but it won’t be all Chip and Joanna, all the time. The first original series the network announced was Home on the Road. The six-episode unscripted reality show will follow Abner Ramirez, Amanda Sudano Ramirez, and their two kids as the married singer-songwriters embark on a tour with their band Johnnyswim, according to the Hollywood Reporter

Joanna will also be getting her own show, but she won’t be nailing shiplap to the wall. Instead, she’ll be hosting her own cooking show, she announced during a November 2019 appearance on The Tonight Show. Chip even teased that they were trying to get fellow Texan Matthew McConaughey as a guest.

Joanna also said that they’re working hard on getting everything ready for the network’s 2020 launch, which is no small task.

“We’re knee-deep in it right now,” Joanna told Fallon. “I think what we love about it is just the idea of finding amazing stories [of] people who are passionate about what they do, whether it’s cooking, design, business. So we’re excited. This is a lot of fun and a lot of work.”
