Chip and Joanna Gaines quickly rose to fame once their HGTV show Fixer Upper took off back in 2018. The Waco, Texas couple promoted the concept of buying the worst house in the best neighborhood and turning it into someone’s dream home. Since then, house flipping has taken off around the country. And the Gaines’ five children also seem to want to follow in their parents’ footsteps.
Chip and Joanna Gaines turned their construction business into an empire
When Fixer Upper first premiered in 2013, nobody had even heard of Chip and Joanna Gaines. But they seemed to be a fun loving couple who had a knack for entertaining alongside a true talent of construction and design. The two were based in Waco, Texas, where they often flipped homes in their neighborhood that had good bones but were in need of some major TLC. The show ended up taking off, and by the end of the first season, Chip and Joanna had become extremely well known. Over the next several years, their hour-long show turned into a massive money maker, with an entire headquarters in Waco along with a massive warehouse, restaurant, hotel, coffee shop, magazine, and now, a television network.
They often showed their children helping out on various episodes of their show
Viewers watched the kids grow up over their five years on fixer Upper. While filming, Chip and Joanna Gaines had four kids (they have since welcomed a fifth), and the children would often help their parents out with small jobs here and there. The girls loved to visit antique shops and help Joanna pick out designs and statement pieces for the homes. And the kids are also the reason Chip and Joanna refused to leave Waco. They wanted to make sure that they were always there for their children, despite starting a business that would make them some of the most famous designers in the country.
It’s clear the kids are following in their parents’ footsteps
These days, Chip and Joanna are still doing what they love, but it’s on a much larger scale. However, both parents post photos of their children, showing the kids are clearly taking after their mom and dad. Chip and Joanna have always taught their kids to respect nature; Joanna often decorates homes with plants to give them a more natural feel. She recently posted a photo of her daughter on a hike captioned, “My little forager,” showing that she’s implementing those same values in her children.
Joanna has also posted photos of her children helping out on the family’s farm, which she and chip have worked hard to establish. Right now, the kids are still a bit too young to tell the career paths they’ll take, but their parents have clearly instilled certain values in them and opened them up to a very intriguing lifestyle. The couple’s youngest son, Crew, has become a very bright spot in his parents’ lives, and it’s only a matter of time before he starts taking after his mom and dad, too.
