Chris Evans Reveals “Favorite Stuff” From Entire Avengers’ Arc

Captain America – the emblem of all that is right and good in the world – will forever be tied to actor Chris Evans. Evans has been playing the iconic MCU hero since starring in 2011’s The First Avenger as the scrawny armed forces hopeful turned super soldier.

Chris Evans has admitted that he will not be returning to the Avengers saga post Endgame; thus, his character has been the subject of considerable speculation. Will he die in Endgame? Will the ultimate film be not only the end of a cultural phenomenon but also the end of such a vital MCU figure? While all these questions are soon-to-be answered, Chris Evans discussed his “favorite stuff” from the Avengers narrative arc at a recent press conference.

While explaining that Captain America is drawn to other characters, such as Black Panther, who are “intrinsically selfless,” according to Superhero News, Evans went onto explain the great satisfaction he has earned playing across from Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ build-up: Chris Evans discusses the relationship between Captain America and Tony Stark

During the press conference, Chris Evans explained Captain America’s nature, stating:

“I think he tends to lean on those people who are of like mind and nature, who kind of are intrinsically selfless. I mean, all the heroes up here have their baked in the cake flaws, and I think a lot of that makes for really good conflict and storytelling. That’s why my favorite stuff in this arc has been my stuff with Downey because we are such, it’s such a dichotomy between how we approach things, but you know, at the end of the day, their hearts are both in the right place and it provides a lot of great friction…”

It should come as no surprise that Chris Evans most enjoys his scenes with Downey, as their characters are often forced head-to-head, especially in Civil War, and their different value sets create great tension. This tension then works to augment the conflicting undertones existing throughout the series (often boiling beneath the surface, only to sometimes reach a boiling point and become the center of a dialogue).

Captain America and Tony Stark, arguably, boast the most complex relationship in the series: they respect one another and admire what the other does and feels, yet their minds are rarely in alignment. They are consistently forced to overcome this hurdle for the good of all mankind.

Speculation: Chris Evans’ role in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Endgame’ film

With the installment in a decade-long anticipated narrative now only a month away, there couldn’t be more fan theories – concerning the outcome – taking over the internet. As for Captain America, he is one of the original members; thus, we know he will likely play a large role in the final confrontation with Thanos. That is, of course, unless the Russo brothers are planning to throw up for a loop, alla Game of Thrones style.

Whether Captain America will die remains a heated debate, as there are arguments for both sides; however, it seems that more people feel the character will cease to exist come Endgame’s conclusion. However, if Cap must die, it better be in some really meaningful way that makes the audience cry (just like they did when Peter Parker disintegrated in Tony Stark’s arms).

Avengers: Endgame is “the end,” as the Russo brothers themselves have stated; thus, there’s going to be a lot at play in this final film. Unlike many of its predecessors, in which action is the focal point, this film will likely be equally dramatic and heartfelt. So prepare yourselves.
