Chris Evans Goes Full-Fledged Jerk For Role Following ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Chris Evans has been playing the morally correct and upstanding savior Captain America since first donning the superhero suit in 2011’s The First Avenger. Known for taking down bad guys and standing up for those unable to defend themselves, Captain America is the epitome of a “good guy.”

While Chris Evans – visiting Children’s hospitals in the Captain America suit and escorting Academy Award-winning actresses up the stage (when their gowns makes maneuvering difficult) – may be a real-life Captain America, he likely does not wish to get typecast as one.

Before playing Captain America, Chris Evans starred in multiple other superhero-themed movies, including The Fantastic Four, Push, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and he is likely now on a mission to diversify his acting portfolio. Thus, it should come as no surprise that he has chosen to play a real scumbag for his upcoming post-Avengers film.

Chris Evans and ‘Knives Out:’ “Eat Sh**”

Chris Evans is set to star in an upcoming Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery titled Knives Out. Appearing alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, Daniel Craig, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, and more, the movie is a highly anticipated film scheduled to premiere November 27, 2019.

The first trailer from Rian Johnson’s Knives Out debuted at CinemaCon, and let’s just say Chris Evans comes on the screen with quite the attitude. In Knives Out, Chris Evans plays the son of Jamie Lee Curtis’ character, and he is said to retain a rather “pampered” jerk vibe, according to Mashable.

While the trailer is not out for the general viewing audience, you can at least read an explanation of Chris Evans’ scumbag scene here. The first words out of the man we know to be the polite and dignified Captain America: “up your a**.” This proclamation is then followed by several utterances akin to “Eat sh**,” according to Mashable.

So, If Chris Evans wanted to get away from the hero’s tale, he has definitely succeeded in doing just that. However, the real question is: will he rise to the occasion? Can the man hang up his hero hat and take on the spoiled brat? The answer remains to be seen, but fans of the character have high hopes.

What do we know about ‘Knives Out’ so far?

After Chris Evans’ brief encounters, the preview cuts to a montage featuring various ominous objects – needles, knives, and spiders – as characters interrogate each other for answers, according to Mashable.

Knives Out is destined to hearken back to the murder mysteries of yesteryear, as Rian Johnson’s breakout film was a neo-noir movie, Brick. Greatly inspired by the film Annie Hall, Rian Johnson has admitted to admiring films that break traditional film rules and narratives. While Rian Johnson is also the man behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Looper, it’s more likely that this film will rely on his noir approach to Brick.

Rian Johnson already posted a black and white Knives Out-related photo to Instagram, which aligns perfectly with the classic crime noir aesthetic. So, fans should anticipate a movie that pays homage to the murder mysteries that paved the way for more modern psychological thrillers, yet they should also expect a contemporary twist.

So far, we know Daniel Craig is set to star as the detective on a mission to discover who killed the family patriarch, portrayed by Christopher Plummer. Who knows, maybe Chris Evans will go total bad guy and wind up being the guy behind the murder. We will have to wait and see.
