Chris Harrison Confirms Mike Johnson Is Being Considered For ‘The Bachelor’

When fan-favorite Mike Johnson was sent home on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, much of Bachelor Nation started campaigning for the San Antonio, Texas, portfolio manager to be considered for The Bachelor

His breakup with Brown was heartbreaking. Johnson’s character really shone through as he was sweet, gracious, and even encouraging as the Bachelorette broke off their relationship.

“I think I’ve just been like thinking a lot since I’ve been here and you’ve been such a leader here. I told you in the rose ceremony the first day I was so freaking nervous and all I could see–you were just smiling and you got me through it. I know one of the first conversations we had was like how you don’t want to get your heartbroken and I know how bad that hurts. You’ve talked about your three ladies in your life. They’re so amazing and you’re looking for your fourth lady, and I know that I’m not that fourth lady,” she told him.

“I know it’s hard to say. But it’s what you needed to say, how you feel. I can’t say that I’m happy. I don’t know what to say except thank you for being honest,” Johnson responded, proving himself to be the outstanding gentleman we all believed him to be.

Why Chris Harrison says Mike Johnson would be a great fit for ‘The Bachelor’

According to Bachelor host Chris Harrison, Johnson is definitely in the running.

“Of course he’s a contender [for Bachelor],” Harrison told People. “How could he not be a contender with that smile? He’s one of my favorite people we’ve ever had on the show. He’s a love of a man. I don’t know him that well, and I consider him a really good friend.”

Johnson would make history as the first black Bachelor, as well as the first military veteran to be cast in the lead role. But he told People that he could handle the pressure.

“I don’t get pressure either way,” he says. “It doesn’t phase me. I mean, the most pressure I had was back in high school when I was playing football and I dropped the ball. Haven’t had pressure like that since, so it’s all good.”
