Chrissy Teigen Says Award Shows Are ‘Incredibly Boring’ — Here’s Why
Awards season is upon us.
Nominations for the Golden Globes have already been announced with the Oscars and SAG Awards not far behind. While fans of awards season have been looking forward to seeing their favorite Hollywood stars accept accolades for their work, one celebrity, in particular, doesn’t get as giddy about attending the exclusive events.
Chrissy Teigen, who is already filming her TV show, Chrissy’s Court, revealed during a Twitter #AMA, or Ask Me Anything on Dec. 9, 2019, she doesn’t necessarily enjoy attending award shows, according to BuzzFeed. While audiences watching at home might see celebrities smiling, laughing, and even dancing and singing along to live musical performances, Teigen says there are downsides to showing up to the ceremonies.

‘You are pulled in 100 different directions,’ Teigan says
During her #AMA, Teigen shared with her 12 million Twitter followers some details about her life as a celebrity. She talked about fame, a special airport perk only celebrities have access to, and, of course, award shows.
Teigen’s been to many events the average person only dreams of one day attending but, according to her, they’re not all magical evenings filled with swag bags and hanging out with fellow celebrities in their red carpet best.
When a Twitter user asked Teigen, “How boring are award shows?” she didn’t hold back.
They’re “unbelievably boring and you are pulled in 100 different directions and yelled at to sit down,” she wrote.
Put like that, award shows don’t sound fun at all. But wait, there’s more.
“The bar is never close to you and everyone is so mean to seat fillers, I dunno why anyone wants to do it,” she added.
Teigen is married to EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner, John Legend, and as such has been witness to many an award show ceremony. Not to mention she’s won awards herself.
Most recently, in Nov. 2019, Teigen received an award for her charity work. Honored with the Giving Tree Award at the Baby2Baby Gala, Teigen jokingly removed one of her husband’s 10 Grammy awards from a shelf in their home to make room for her award.
She fell asleep at the 2017 Oscars
Apparently, the Oscars weren’t riveting enough to keep Teigen awake in 2017. During Casey Affleck’s Best Actor acceptance speech for his performance in Manchester by the Sea, cameras caught the mother of two nodding off, according to Time magazine.
Her power nap on Legend’s shoulder got overshadowed by Warren Beatty accidentally announcing the wrong film for Best Picture but fans recalled the incident during her AMA joking that she’s asleep during the ceremonies because they’re so boring.
In light of Teigen’s honest AMA, we’re happy to watch award shows from the comfort of our home wearing sweatpants.
