Chrissy Teigen Talks About Getting Breast Implants And Why She’d Like To Have Them Removed

Former supermodel Chrissy Teigen is a fan fave for consistently keeping it real. Always transparent on her adventures in parenting and home life, Teigen has also been open about adjusting to her new post-baby weight, dealing with depression, and undergoing cosmetic procedures.

The cookbook author just revealed in a recent interview that she received breast implants when she was younger and now regrets the decision.

Teigen takes a stand on body image

The Lip Sync Battle star acknowledges that the bar set by show business when it comes to appearance is unrealistic, and calls out the negative effect such false representation has on women.

“You can’t set these expectations for people that everything is perfect. Everyone filters their s***, edits or Facetunes so you forget what normal faces or bodies look like,” Teigen told Glamour UK. “It’s not fair and it makes you jealous of other people’s bodies. It’s lying to people by omission.”

Married to singer John Legend and now a mom of two – daughter Luna and son Miles – Teigen feels a responsibility to provide her kids with a healthy self-image. “While you want to teach your kids to be comfortable in their own skin, you want to tell them everything you can and let them decide,” she said.

The former supermodel has overcome her own issues of insecurities including her “pug face,” as she calls it. “If you hear the same comment over and over again, it gets to you,” Teigen shared. “But when you are happy in other aspects of your life, you care less about it. When I see my crazy, weird smile and my teeth being too big for my mouth, I see it as showing genuine emotion and happiness, so I don’t see it as a negative thing any more.”

Teigen reveals previous procedure

In her interview with Glamour UK, Teigen shared that she underwent a breast augmentation procedure to keep in step with her presence as a model.

“Yeah, I did my boobs when I was about 20 years old,” she revealed. “It was more for a swimsuit thing. I thought, if I’m going to be posing, laid on my back, I want them to be perky! But then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate and now I am screwed. Honestly, I kept them the same cup size. I just filled them out, so they are rounder and firmer. I had a quarter ‘teardrop’ cup in the bottom and filled out the breast line.”

Now, Teigen would opt to have the implants removed and get a different type of procedure, but realizes it’s not worth the danger of surgery.

“I want them out now. If I could do one thing, it would be to have a lift,” she shared. “I think you’re supposed to replace [implants] every ten years. But when you have kids you think about [the risks] of surgery and I think, ‘This is not the way I want to die, in boob surgery.’”

In keeping with her trademark humor, Teigen is aware that the new information on the specific part of her body will spark curiosity in her followers. “People are going to be excited about my boobs, I can tell already!” she said. “There’s been a lot of speculation for years!”

Post-baby acceptance

Now that Teigen is the mom of two, she’s come to accept the physical changes that come along with post-pregnancy.

“I used to weigh myself every morning, afternoon and night. I knew what the scales would say after each meal,” she revealed. “I did that for eight years and had this one weight I wanted to be at. That changed with Luna, and really changed with Miles [her son, two], where it took me a year to be comfortable with my new normal number.”

While the social media maven sometimes gets frustrated with her ‘new normal,’ Teigen is also relieved at not having to live up to an unrealistic ideal.

“I do look at [my body] in the shower and think, ‘Arghhh, these kids’. But I don’t take the aesthetics so seriously now,” she explained. “It’s very fulfilling not having that pressure of putting on a swimsuit and looking good for a magazine while running around a beach, which I did when I was modeling.”

Teigen is also placing a priority of being kind to herself. “I don’t feel like my body is where I’m going to be s***ty to myself, either,” she said. “I’m already thinking enough things I am mad at myself about, I can’t add my body into it.”
