‘Christina on the Coast’: Will Christina Anstead’s Solo Show Get a Season 2?
Christina Anstead has had a big year. She’s been settling into married life with her husband Ant Anstead, who she married in December 2018. In May, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, due in September. Later that same month, her brand-new HGTV show Christina on the Coast premiered.
This week, the 36-year-old Anstead had some more exciting news. Her show has been renewed for a second season.
‘Christina on the Coast’ will return to TV in 2020
On August 14, HGTV announced that it had renewed Christina on the Coast for season two. Next season’s 13 episodes will focus on Anstead’s life with her husband, their blended family, and their first baby together. New episodes should air sometime in early 2020.
“In season two, we will join Christina as she grows her design business and navigates relationships with her friends and family, including her husband and new baby,” HGTV president Jane Latman said in a statement. “Everyone is rooting for her and her family as they build a whole new life.”
Christina on the Coast has been a ratings win for the home design and real estate network. HGTV ranked as the No. 2 cable channel in the show’s time slot during its run. According to the network, more than 12 million viewers watched the first season.
Anstead is thrilled with the news
Understandably, Anstead was thrilled to share that her show would be coming back to TV.
“So BEYOND excited to announce that Christina On The Coast has been picked up for a second season!!!” she wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you @hgtv for the opportunity- and to all of you for your support- so grateful!!” she added.
With a new baby on the way, nursery spaces are understandably on Anstead’s mind. When one fan suggested that she make over a baby’s room on the next season, the design maven hinted that something was already planned, writing, “I may or may not have that in the works.”
Anstead’s ex Tarek El Moussa is also getting his own show
Not to be outdone by his ex-wife, Anstead’s former husband Tarek El Moussa is also getting his own solo HGTV show. Flipping 101 w/ Tarek El Moussa will premiere early next year. The 14-episode series will follow El Moussa as he mentors real estate novices as they try to pull off a successful flip.
El Moussa also had big news to share on the relationship front recently. The Flip or Flop star has a new girlfriend. He’s dating Heather Young, the star of Netflix’s Selling Sunset. In an interview with People, El Moussa admitted he was in a dark place after his very public divorce and cancer battle, but that meeting Young changed his life.
“I saw [Young] one day…and right when she smiled, I just lit up inside,” he said. “She’s so amazing and supportive and strong. She makes me feel better. She makes my life better.”
