CM Punk Once Knocked Out Chris Brown — But Not With a Right Hook

The thing about feuds in combat sports is that they can be settled with an actual fist fight. But, while CM Punk has actually fought professionally, Chris Brown hasn’t. So, when the two men got into a feud with each other, they started trading blows on social media.

And, with some choice words, Punk landed a knockout blow on his foe. Here’s a look at CM Punk, Chris Brown, and the history of their Twitter feud.

The tale of the tape

Unless you’re a wrestling or a UFC fan, you probably know more about Brown than you know about Punk. If you don’t know about Brown, then the long and short of it is that he’s a popular musician who attacked and severely injured his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. This was just the tip of the iceberg though, as Brown has also attacked and assaulted others afterward.

Punk on the other hand, is more straight-laced than Brown is, both literally and metaphorically. Punk wrestled in the WWE for a long time, and fans loved him for his personality as well as his candor.

After he voiced some negative opinions about the WWE, Punk left the organization and joined the UFC. There, Punk fought other people for real. That said, Punk didn’t do so well in the UFC, and he’s lost both of his fights in the organization.

CM Punk and Chris Brown’s feud

As The Huffington Post reported, after Brown appeared at the Grammys in 2012, Punk tweeted that he’d like to, in essence, fight Brown. This was of course a reference to Brown’s assault of Rihanna and others. Brown didn’t take the high road, however, and he swung back at Punk. Brown replied to Punk by saying that Punk didn’t have many Twitter followers and that Punk couldn’t “pleasure a women” because of his steroid usage.

While it’s true that in the WWE, the UFC, and other sports, a lot of athletes use steroids, that may not be the case for Punk. The Huffington Post reported that Punk took it up a notch and replied to Brown with a video, saying that, “I am a life-long, proud, drug-free straight-edge individual. So Chris and I come from two completely different worlds.”

That was a good burn, but Punk wasn’t finished yet. According to The Huffington Post, Punk followed that up by saying, “I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people’s actions and I think Chris Brown hasn’t paid for what he’s done.”

Then finally, The Huffington Post said that Punk ended his message by asking for a real fight with Brown. “Put some gloves on in the ring and I will choke you out and make you feel as weak and powerless and scared and alone as any woman has had the misfortune of knowing any sad, cowardly little boy as yourself. And all proceeds can go to a women’s charity of my choosing.”

The feud ends but the internet remembers

The last message that Brown sent to Punk, according to The Huffington Post, was a short and simple one. Brown said to Punk, “@cmpunk the video u posted was cute! It’s so funny how defensive you are.”

Ultimately, the feud ended because both men kind of just stopped replying to each other. As The Huffington Post and Punk hinted at, Brown or his team had a habit of deleting his tweets. So, it’s very possible that Brown’s team just told him to cut his losses and to end the feud with silence.

That said, with the rise of TikTok, Brown has made an account on there. But other TikTok users have done their part to remind everyone about Brown’s history of violence. Like many abusers, Brown probably will never live down his violent past.
