Cody Simpson Proved Miley Cyrus Still Isn’t Talking After Surgery in His Instagram Post

Miley Cyrus can’t seem to stay away from media attention. From her on-again, off-again relationship with Liam Hemsworth to her incredible vocal chops and edgy musical performances, Cyrus has many fans and equally as many haters. And it looks like her new relationship with Australian singer/songwriter Cody Simpson is also getting a ton of attention.

Simpson and Cyrus haven’t been subtle about their relationship, as they continue to post about each other on Instagram. Unfortunately, Cyrus can’t talk at the moment due to vocal cord surgery. And Simpson just showed his followers on Instagram how Cyrus still isn’t talking.

Cyrus and Hemsworth married at the end of 2018, but despite their best efforts, they couldn’t make their relationship work. Hemsworth filed for divorce back in August — and while he seems to be pursuing his own relationship with actress Maddison Brown, Cyrus is in deep with Simpson.

It turns out Simpson and Cyrus have known each other for years. “The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long,” the Australian star told People. “Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”

We can’t forget that Simpson also told Fuse back in 2012 that his celebrity crush was Cyrus. “I knew all the words to her songs, I’m not gonna lie. I’m not ashamed about it at all. I was a big Miley Cyrus fan and I think she will be forever the most dateable Disney star,” he said.

We haven’t (literally) heard from Cyrus for the entirety of November — and that’s because she underwent vocal cord surgery. People reports the singer was first hospitalized for tonsillitis back in October, and it was during this time when doctors found a separate issue with her vocal cords. For this reason, Cyrus had surgery in early November and now has to recover by remaining silent for weeks.

Luckily, Cyrus has plenty of supporters on her side. One source told the publication that she’s “doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.” And of course, Simpson has been a major support system for Cyrus during this time. He even released a song titled “Golden Thing” that’s inspired by his superstar girlfriend.

Happy birthday baby. Thanks for being you

It looks like Cyrus is still on the mend from the surgery. She participated in a “silent birthday” on Nov. 13 which involved plenty of cake and friends according to her Instagram Story, Elle reports. “I will never forget my silent 27th birthday. Thanks to my friends and family who made it so special!” Cyrus captioned her Story.

Simpson added his own Instagram Story posts just for Cyrus’ birthday. But it’s his video he posted to Instagram on Nov. 24 that’s getting even more attention. He’s shown holding his camera up to the mirror so the video features both him and Cyrus, and he’s lip-synching a song that’s playing in the background. Cyrus is seen laughing but still remaining quiet. It seems Simpson is lightly poking fun at his girlfriend’s current plight. He went on to caption the post, “Happy birthday baby. Thanks for being you.”

Many aren’t supportive of Cyrus and Simpson, as they wish Cyrus would get back together with Hemsworth. But it seems some fans are coming around.

“I don’t know this relationship was so fast but damn they look so good together,” one fan commented on Simpson’s post.

Another wrote, “I haven’t seen her so happy in a long time, thank u for contributing with her happiness.”

Will this relationship last? We’re not sure yet, but Cyrus seems in good hands so far. Here’s to better health in 2020!
