Colton Underwood from The Bachelor revealed that he and fiancé Jordan C. Brown don’t plan to sign a prenuptial agreement before they marry and some fans think he isn’t making the right move.

Underwood appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and said he didn’t plan to sign a prenup because his marriage would last forever. “No, we’ve already had this conversation,” he said. Host Andy Cohen looked a little stunned, joking that Underwood planned to go the “Teresa Giudice way.”

Colton Underwood shared why he won’t get a prenup

But Underwood believed his marriage would never result in divorce. “No, not that way either,” he laughed about the Giudice remark. Teresa Giudice recently revealed she does not plan to obtain a prenuptial agreement with fiancé Luis Ruelas. “No, we’re in it for the long haul,” Underwood added.

Summer House star Danielle Olivera was a co-guest and seemed distressed by Underwood’s remark. She had just discussed how Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula signed a prenup and thought it was a smart move, especially for an entrepreneur.

“You guys got opinions on prenups,” Underwood added.

Olivera said, “It doesn’t mean you’re setting yourself up for failure.” Cohen added that it only means you are protecting yourself.

‘The Bachelor’ fans don’t love his decision

But Underwood pushed back: “We don’t wanna put those vibes out there so …” But later, Cohen said he received comments from fans about the prenup. “Apparently people on Twitter are outraged that you are not getting a prenup,” Cohen shared with Underwood after a commercial break.

He shrugged, “We may?”

Twitter lit up, especially because Underwood only recently came out as gay and hadn’t dated many men. “NOT Colton Underwood marrying the first man he meets I’m f***ing dead,” one fan tweeted.

Gibson Johns wrote, “Colton Underwood Teresa Giudice. Telling Andy Cohen that they’re not gonna sign prenups.”

Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown got engaged in February

In February, Underwood announced his engagement to Brown, who is a political strategist, after revealing in April 2021 he was gay. The couple got engaged after a year of dating. He said on WWHL that the wedding will be three years in the making and the couple plans to wait until they can have a large wedding. Underwood added that the pandemic delayed so many couples’ nuptials that a wedding of that scale will take time.

He reflected on dating after he shared that he was gay and found love. “I wasn’t really pursuing dating at first. But since then I found somebody and I am very much in love,” he told People in December 2021.

“I was struggling with my sexuality but I had such a level of fear over being gay,” he recalls. “Now that I’ve been out to myself for a year, it’s the healthiest and happiest I’ve ever felt. And there is nothing I would ever want to be but gay.”

“I had so many twists and turns to get to where I am now,” he says. “I’m still learning and I’m still growing. But I’m not trying to trick myself anymore with the idea that I could force myself to be straight. And for the first time in my life, I’m hopeful that I’m on the right path.”
