Could ‘Ant-Man 3’ Introduce Both the Fantastic Four and the Young Avengers?

Marvel reportedly has big plans for Ant-Man 3. The studio has not announced an official premiere date for the project, but sources claim that several new franchises will be introduced in the film. This includes the newly acquired Fantastic Four plus a preview of the superheroes who will make up the Young Avengers.

When will ‘Ant-Man 3’ premiere in theaters?

Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Marvel just announced that all of is Phase 4 projects have been pushed back several months. Black Widow, which was set to open on May 1, will now premiere in November, bumping the premiere of The Eternals back to next year.

All of the movies in Phase 4 and beyond will suffer similar changes. Unfortunately, this means that Ant-Man 3 will probably not hit theaters until 2023. The studio has not confirmed a release date, but Marvel was originally going to release the movie in 2022.

If that happens, Ant-Man 3 will open as part of Phase 5 of the MCU, with filming for the project starting up next summer.

While this gives Marvel plenty of time to develop the storyline, inside sources claim that the studio already has big plans for Paul Rudd’s third solo outing, including using it to introduce several new characters to the Marvel family.

Will ‘Ant-Man 3’ feature the Fantastic Four?

There has been a slew of speculation surrounding the Fantastic Four ever since Disney bought the rights to the franchise last year. Marvel president Kevin Feige has already confirmed that the superhero team will become a part of the MCU, but we still do not know when that will happen.

Fan theories suggest that the Fantastic Four will play a part in Ant-Man 3. The storyline will reportedly have the characters stuck in the quantum realm during the film, with Rudd’s Scott Lang rescuing them.

This gives the studio a good way to introduce the characters and explains why they have been missing from the MCU all of these years. Marvel, of course, has not confirmed any of these rumors, so we will have to wait and see what happens in the movie.

Fans cannot wait to see what the studio does with the Fantastic Four, but they are not the only superheroes Marvel might introduce in Ant-Man 3.

What about the Young Avengers?

Aside from the Fantastic Four, an inside source told We Got This Covered that Marvel wants to feature at least one character who will eventually become part of the Young Avengers. The source claims that Ant-Man 3 will further explore the time jump that was included in Avengers: Endgame, particularly how it relates to Scott’s daughter, Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson).

The insider explained how Scott will attempt to push Cassie away from becoming a superhero. Despite her dad’s wishes, Cassie will eventually become Stature, which is consistent with the comics.

The source also claims that Marvel no longer wants to feature the Fantastic Four in Ant-Man 3. We cannot confirm the reports, but the studio definitely has plenty of time to iron out the details.

Marvel recently hired Jeff Loveness (Rick and Morty) to help write the script for Ant-Man 3. Rudd is also set to contribute to the creative process, just like he did in the first two films.

This character will play an important part in the Young Avengers

Sources also say that Marvel will be introducing Iso in the upcoming Disney+ series, Hawkeye. The character will be played by Hawkeye’s (Jeremy Renner) daughter, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), who was shown practicing archery with her father in Endgame.

There are also reports that the studio will be featuring Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) children, Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepard, in WandaVision. The characters will join Iso and Stature to form the Young Avengers.

Marvel has not commented on any of these Ant-Man 3 rumors surrounding the Fantastic Four and the Young Avengers, both projects that will likely be set in Phase 5 of the MCU or beyond.
