Could Captain Marvel Brie Larson Leave the MCU to Join The DCEU?

Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson has a bright future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a rival studio reportedly has big plans for the actress as well. Larson will be reprising her role as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2 and is expected to have several cameos in future crossover films. Although the actress clearly has a big role to play in the MCU, sources claim that Marvel’s top rival is trying to recruit her for a part in the DC Extended Universe.

Larson has a promising future with Marvel

There were plenty of doubts when fans learned that Larson was cast to play the part of Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, in the first film of the hit franchise. Those doubts, of course, were completely erased upon the movie’s premiere.

Captain Marvel proved to be a major success for the studio, making well over $1 billion at the box office. Larson reprised the role for Avengers: Endgame, which made a record-breaking $2.8 billion in ticket sales.

Given this kind of success, it’s a no-brainer that Marvel is making Larson’s character a key component moving forward. Unfortunately, Captain Marvel 2 is not scheduled to be released in time for Phase 4 of the MCU, which means it probably won’t premiere until after 2022.

The good news is that the project is under development and that the sequel is in the works. But in a new twist, it sounds like DC is also looking to cash in on Larson’s celebrity.

Is DC trying to snag Larson for a part?

Although Larson is firmly planted in the MCU, an inside source told We Got This Covered that DC wants her to play the part of Lady Blackhawk. The insider claims that DC wants to introduce the character in the upcoming Black Adam film, which is scheduled for release in 2021.

Once that happens, Lady Blackhawk would get a stand-alone film and would likely become a mainstay in the DCEU. Larson has not commented on the rumors, but she is also not the only actress DC is eying for the part.

That said, getting Larson to join the DCEU would be huge for the studio, though it is unlikely given her ties to Marvel.

Even still, Larson’s time in the MCU will eventually come to an end, so it is always possible that she joins DC at some point in the future.

While the rumors will likely continue, Larson is hardly the first actor that is reportedly set to jump between Marvel and DC.

Will this DC star be the next Wolverine?

When it comes to new franchises entering the MCU, fans are eagerly waiting to see what Marvel does with X-Men. The studio is fully expected to reboot the entire franchise, which means a whole new cast to play the iconic mutants.

While nothing official has been confirmed, there has been plenty of talk about Henry Cavill playing the part of Wolverine. Better yet, one source claims that Cavill will be making his big debut in Captain Marvel 2.

To be fair, there is a lot of mystery surrounding the alleged source, so fans should take this one with a grain of salt. It is also possible that an upcoming story in the comics contributed to the rumor, as Wolverine is set to make an appearance alongside Captain Marvel.

When will ‘Captain Marvel 2’ hit theaters?

Marvel did not include the Captain Marvel sequel in its big Phase 4 announcement last summer, but the studio has since confirmed that Captain Marvel 2 is going to happen.

With development currently underway, the film will probably not hit theaters until 2022 at the earliest. This puts it firmly in Phase 5 of the MCU, though that does not rule out a chance that Larson will have a cameo before then.

Marvel is releasing a slew of projects over the next two years. There will be plenty of opportunities for a Captain Marvel cameo, though it is anyone’s guess where the character might appear.

The next film in Marvel’s lineup is Black Widow, which is due to open in theaters on May 1.
