Could This 1 Thing Have Made a Difference in Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s Marriage?
We all know that Prince Charles and Princess Diana didn’t exactly have a fairy tale marriage. They became engaged after only a handful of dates, so it is pretty safe to say that they didn’t even know each other all that well when they walked down the aisle.
In addition, many fans are left wondering, even after all of these years, if there was ever actually any love between them. After all, in their engagement interview, when they should have been over the moon at the journey they were about to embark on, they responded very strangely when the interviewer asked if they were in love. Princess Diana averted her eyes, and Prince Charles answered by saying “whatever it means to be in love.”
During the time they were married, the relationship definitely had its ups and downs. Neither Princess Diana nor Prince Charles ever looked truly happy when they were seen together, which wasn’t even very often. Given that royal fans loved Princess Diana as much as they did, they were hoping to see her become the future queen, which is why it was so disappointing when they eventually separated.

Prince Charles wasn’t faithful to Princess Diana

It is no secret that Camilla Parker Bowles was always the true love in Prince Charles’ life. They met long before Prince Charles ever even knew Princess Diana. And although they both went on to marry other people, their relationship carried on over the years.
According to Reader’s Digest, Princess Diana was well aware of her husband’s infidelity, and she didn’t exactly keep quiet about it, either. Apparently, some of the late princess’s friends told her that the best thing to do would be to simply ignore what was going on, but Princess Diana didn’t take their advice.
Princess Diana actually went so far as to confront Parker Bowles about the affair. Parker Bowles tried to deny it. Ironically, Princess Diana was the one who reportedly ended up apologizing after the confrontation.
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ relationship would have been okay in a different time
There was a time when it would have been acceptable for a member of the royal family to have a mistress. But by the time Prince Charles and Princess Diana were married, those days were long gone.
According to Reddit, there are some people that think maybe Parker Bowles’ intentions were not to break up the Prince and Princess of Wales, although that is what eventually happened. Had the situation taken place decades earlier, it wouldn’t have been such a big deal. And, chances are, Princess Diana never would have taken the opportunity to confront Parker Bowles about it, either.
Parker Bowles would have been just fine simply being Prince Charles’s mistress. However, Princess Diana was a modern and strong woman, and even though she was expected to obey royal protocol, she was not going to stand for having a husband who couldn’t be faithful to her.
Could this one thing have made a difference in Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage?
Prince Charles and Princess Diana separated in 1996, leaving him free to pursue his relationship with Parker Bowles — although, they didn’t get married until years later. Still, the question remains: Would it have made a difference if Princess Diana had simply turned her head in the other direction?
Years ago, that is what would have been expected of her. She would have ignored the fact that her husband was cheating and gone on acting like everything was fine. Chances are, it wouldn’t have made a difference.
Even if Princess Diana were to act like nothing was wrong, she wouldn’t have been able to hide from her own feelings. Confronting Parker Bowles is clear evidence that Princess Diana was hurt and angry, and ignoring the problem wouldn’t have made those feelings simply disappear.
