‘Counting On’: Are the Duggars Trolling Fans on Instagram?

The Duggar girls might not have grown up with the internet, but they’ve sure gotten savvy quickly. Not only is Jill Dugger running a mean influencer game, but Jessa Duggar likes to clap back at fans who poke fun at her famous family. In recent days, however, things have taken an interesting turn. The Duggars are posting seemingly innocuous pictures to their Instagram, but one little thing in each photo seems a bit off. Are they basically begging fans to comment? It looks like it.

Jill Duggar posted a picture of her family watching TV on a laptop

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are a strange couple. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they post. In recent months, Jill has taken to shocking fans on Instagram. First, she posted a lengthy story about her use of the Kama Sutra; then, she shared a ton of information about domestic abuse. While neither post is inherently wrong, they seemed odd coming from the Duggar girl best known for serving up tuna and barbeque sauce.

Jill’s most recent story seems pretty innocent. Derick and their two boys are huddled around a laptop for what appears to be a movie night. That would be fine, but also in frame is a giant television. Fans have been forced to question why the family is watching a tiny laptop when there is a giant TV just feet away.

Joy-Anna Duggar snapped a shot of her son with a Mountain Dew bottle

Not to be outdone, Joy-Anna packed on the weird too. In a series of snapshots, her 1-year-old son, Gideon, is seen holding a Mountain Dew bottle up to his mouth. Sure, the cap appeared to be on the bottle, but the 21-year-old reality TV star had to know it was going to get fans talking. In fact, Reddit fans think she’s trolling everyone.

Joy-Anna and her parenting has been the subject of much debate ever since Gideon was born in February 2018. In February 2019, fans lambasted Joy-Anna and her husband Austin for taking a couple’s retreat on the weekend of their son’s first birthday.

They later shared a photo of Gideon’s celebration to ensure fans they made it back to give the little guy a birthday surprise. They had attended a retreat specifically designed to bring couples closer together.

Are John-David and Abbie are the subtle trolls?

Subtle is the name of John-David and Abbie Duggar’s game. John, who insisted he was a “bachelor till the rapture” turned into a pile of goo for Abbie, a nurse from Oklahoma. The couple’s wedding was highlighted on Counting On, but once the rings were on, they went relatively quiet on social media.

They shared a picture here and there, but things went quiet in May. In July they began posting again, and for good reason. The couple broke their months’ long silence by sharing the news that they are expecting their first child together. Sure, it doesn’t seem like trolling, but they aren’t giving anything away.

Abbie, however, does seem to have a private Instagram page that is locked down tight. She currently follows 100 people and has the same number of followers.
