‘Counting On’: Which Couple Would Make For the Best Spinoff Show?
After 19 Kids and Counting was canceled back in 2015 following Josh Duggar’s sexual abuse scandal leaking, TLC decided to launch a spinoff show that featured the first two Duggar daughters to wed; it was called Jill and Jessa: Counting On. The show followed Jill and Jessa Duggar’s new lives as married women and filmed them starting families of their own. But now that the show features various Duggars who have settled down and had kids, it makes us wonder: Who would have the best spinoff show these days?
The ‘Counting On’ spinoff originally followed Jill and Jessa
Back in 2015, Jill and Jessa were the only two married Duggars (besides Josh, who, for obvious reasons, was no longer going to be on television). When Josh’s sexual abuse scandal from the early 2000s leaked, TLC fans demanded the network pull the show. It did so, and it brought back a spinoff featuring Jill and Derick Dillard as well as Jessa and Ben Seewald. But in 2017, Derick’s distasteful tweets caused the Dillard family and TLC to part ways. Now, the show is called Counting On, and it features many of the adult Duggars (Jessa, Jinger, Joy, John David, Josiah, and Joseph) and their spouses as they all start young families.
Some fans have asked Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo to create their own spinoff
Arguably, Jinger and Jeremy have the most interesting lives. The two were married in 2016 and have one daughter, and since Jinger left the Duggar household, she’s branched out and become a bit of a rule breaker. She wears pants, dyes her hair, and does fun things that aren’t church related. She and Jeremy also recently moved to Los Angeles, where they’ve been documenting the exploration of their new neighborhood through social media. Fans have repeatedly requested the two have their own spinoff show, since their lives are much more modern than most of the other Duggars.
Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth could make an interesting house-flipping show
Another interesting Duggar couple is Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth. These two were married in 2017 and welcomed their first son in 2018. The two announced another pregnancy earlier this year, but sadly, they lost the baby at 20 weeks. Joy and Austin have found success in flipping homes, and Joy has taken fans around the trailer the two live in while they build another home to sell. With house flipping shows all over these days, Joy and Austin could have a pretty interesting spinoff show on their hands.
Jana Duggar’s free-spirit lifestyle might make for an interesting spinoff, too
Jana Duggar is the oldest Duggar daughter, but she is the only daughter in her 20s who remains single. However, this has allowed Jana to live a life that’s a bit more on her own terms (most Duggar women marry and follow the rules of their husbands forever). Though she still lives under her parents’ roof, Jana has been able to travel, as she was recently in Austin, then hopped on a plane to the Grand Canyon. Her more “free spirit” lifestyle could make for an interesting show that would allow fans to get to know her better. Some have even suggested she move out to California to live a more modern life near Jinger and Jeremy.
So far, TLC hasn’t announced any Duggar spinoff shows, though we could see any of the above potentially happening at some point.
