‘Counting On’: Derick Dillard Confirms He Is Writing A Tell-All Amid Feud Rumors
The cat’s out of the bag. Former Counting On star Derick Dillard is officially writing a tell-all memoir about Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Taking to Twitter, Derick confirmed that a memoir is in the works, and fans cannot wait to find out what Derick has to say about the Counting On family. Here is everything we know about Derick’s proposed book.
Derick Dillard confirms memoir
In a shocking admission, Derick confirmed that he is currently writing a tell-all memoir about the Duggars. The confession came after a fan told Derick that he could make a bunch of money writing a book about his in-laws.
“That’s the plan, but it will take longer to write because I do most of the outlining/writing on breaks from school,” Derick replied.
Derick’s comment comes a few weeks after he slammed Jim Bob for taking all of the money the family earned from Counting On. It also comes after Derick and his wife, Jill Duggar, decided against spending Thanksgiving with Jim Bob and Michelle.
The move led to a lot of speculation that a feud is heating up between Jim Bob Duggar and Derick Dillard, who has been ostracized from the family since he was fired from Counting On.
As fans will recall, Derick was let go after he made some ill-advised comments about the LGBTQ community on social media. He has never apologized for the comments and has continued to stir up drama.
Derick slams Jim Bob and TLC
A few weeks ago, Derick bashed both TLC and Jim Bob for only caring about money when it came to the show. On Twitter, he attacked the network for asking him and Jill to continue filming and then not following up with them after they exited the series.
“@TLC has issues. They begged us not to quit filming but then didn’t want to hear from us about why we quit. If money is all they care about, then it’s going to catch up with them—you must care about people,” he wrote.
A fan then asked Derick Dillard why Jim Bob takes the money from the show and does not give any to his children, who are basically the stars of the spin-off.
In response, Derick told the fan that they need to ask Jim Bob and Michelle about that. He also revealed that Jim Bob is the one who negotiates all of the contracts with TLC and that he does not keep anyone in the loop.
This apparently includes his kids who are married and have families of their own. For Derick, the only thing TLC cares about is making money off the show, so they could not care less who handles the contracts.
Derick Dillard denies getting fired from ‘Counting On’
Despite Derick leaving Counting On shortly after he made transphobic comments on Twitter, he has adamantly denied that TLC fired him.
Instead, Derick claims that he left the series on his own volition because it was the best move for his family. Jill has echoed these claims in multiple interviews and also has not appeared on the show for several seasons.
A few months ago, Derick Dillard revealed that he no longer does missionary work because the network refuses to release him and Jill from their Counting On contracts. There are apparently some stipulations in the contracts that prevent them from doing that kind of work.
While fans wait for Derick to finish the memoir, he is currently studying law and is working for the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office.
What will Derick include in the book?
Derick Dillard did not share any details about his forthcoming memoir on social media. Hopefully, he will give us more details as the project comes along.
Until then, we can make a few educated guesses about what might be covered in the memoir. Considering Derick’s strained relationship with Jim Bob, there is a good chance that their feud is talked about in great length.
Fans can also expect to hear more about Derick’s final days on the show, including his version of what went down with TLC.
Although Derick has stirred up a lot of drama on social media over the years, it is safe to say that his upcoming memoir will probably take the cake in that department. Derick Dillard has not revealed when he plans on finishing the book, but it sounds like it might be a long time before it is done.
In the meantime, fans can watch new episodes of Counting On Tuesday nights on TLC.
