‘Counting On’: Duggar Fans Predict That Abbie Burnett Will Announce a Pregnancy Any Day Now

When you’re talking about the Duggar family, there’s usually a pregnancy announcement just around the corner. This year has been especially full of exciting news and at one point, five Duggar women were all expecting at the same time (six if you include cousin Amy). Now that number is back down to four since Jessa welcomed her baby daughter, Ivy Jane. But fans are anticipating another announcement any day now.

There are several likely candidates for the next pregnancy announcement. While some people were speculating it might be Jill Dillard or Jinger Vuolo, those predictions haven’t proven true—yet. Fans decided that the next Duggar wife to announce a pregnancy will probably be Abbie Burnett, who’s married to John David Duggar. Here’s why.

Fans have been waiting for baby news from John David and Abbie

Usually a pregnancy announcement comes shortly after a Duggar wedding, though that’s not always the case. John David Duggar and Abbie Burnett tied the knot in November 2018 and for months afterwards, Duggar fans kept a close eye on their Instagram account for any indication of baby news.

Fans were expecting a quick announcement because John David and Abbie waited a bit longer to get married than usual. At 27 years old, Abbie is not even close to advanced maternal age yet. But if these two want to have a big family they’re going to need to start soon.

Abbie Burnett quit her job to stay home with future children

One other unique thing about Abbie Burnett is she already had a career when she got married. As a registered nurse, Abbie was making good money and fulfilling her dream of helping people. That’s why it surprised everyone when she left her job to stay home and take care of future kids.

“I just love taking care of people. But I left my job a couple of months ago so that I could plan for the wedding,” Burnett said during an episode of Counting On, “I do hope to go back to nursing one day, especially so I can keep up my license and my skills.”

This move seemed to prove that the couple planned on expanding their family right away and not waiting. Otherwise, Abbie would have probably kept working for a few years.

A recent Instagram post hinted at another Duggar pregnancy

The Duggar family is currently mourning the death of Grandma Mary Duggar, who tragically drowned in a swimming pool earlier this month. In one of the tribute posts, Jessa might have accidentally revealed that there’s another pregnancy announcement coming soon.

It didn’t matter who you were, she was “Grandma” to you. That’s most often how she would introduce herself. “Hi, I’m Grandma!” Everybody called her Grandma. She took a genuine interest in people. She would converse with you in a way that made you feel special and loved and cared about. She had a knack for remembering details, and the next time she saw you, she would inquire about things told to her in past conversations. She was so excited about the many new great-grandbabies due this coming fall and winter, and it never got old for her. She welcomed each new baby with joy and would hold them with such tenderness and delight. We will keep her stories and memories alive for these little ones, but we’re sad that they will not have the blessing of knowing her in person as we have. She was always available. When we kids were young, she would often babysit so Mom and Dad could go out on a date. If Mom needed something from the grocery store, she was happy to pick it up. She always had time for a conversation with the teenager and never passed over the toddlers either. Each one of us was made to feel valued and loved by Grandma. She was our biggest cheerleader, coming to every music recital, birthday party, and graduation celebration— and with 21 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids, that was quite a feat! She was an exhorter. If we ever doubted our gifts or abilities, Grandma was there to spur us on. She’d pull the classic “grandma move” and have us putting on impromptu talent shows for complete strangers. “Why don’t you get up here and perform that song you’ve been working on?” “Aww, Grandma, really? Do I have to?” We’d say, glancing at mom, but we knew Mom would back her every time. We’d reluctantly get up and do a number, and it didn’t matter how terrible we thought we sounded, Grandma would beam with pride and start the applause. She believed in our gifts and abilities more than we did at times, and she spurred us on to do our best and to give God the glory for all our talents and achievements. In the post, Jessa mentions new great-grandbabies who will be born in the fall and winter. Since the latest baby we know about is due in November, it’s leading fans to question if one of those winter babies hasn’t been announced yet. And practically everyone assumes that baby will be the first child for John David and Abbie.

We won’t know for sure who the mystery pregnant woman is until the Duggars decide to make that information public. But no matter what happens, we’re all looking forward to more Duggar babies to celebrate in 2019!
