‘Counting On’: Family Followers Predict a Second Duggar Baby Boom Is on the Horizon

It’s official, Kendra Caldwell and Joseph Duggar are expecting their third child. Family followers have long suspected Kendra was pregnant again after she took a long hiatus from social media. Still, recent photos of the 22-year-old mother of two initially put those rumors to rest. It looks like Kendra and Joseph had everyone fooled. They took to social media yesterday to announce their third child will be arriving in 2021. With family follower’s speculations now confirmed, they can’t help but theorize that another Duggar baby boom is on the horizon. 2019 and early 2020 brought five new grandchildren into the Duggar family. Could 2021 bring even more new Duggars into the supersized clan?

Kendra and Joe announced their third pregnancy on Instagram

Come February 2021, Kendra and Joe will officially be a family of five. The couple took to Instagram to announce their third pregnancy in as many years, shocking exactly no one. The announcement, which didn’t reveal the gender of their upcoming baby, came just days after Kendra’s 22nd birthday, and only one month shy of their third wedding anniversary.

Kendra’s announcement has family followers in a bit of a frenzy, with many assuming more announcements are to come in the next few months. Because eight women within the family could, conceivably, announce a pregnancy at any given moment, the assumption doesn’t seem too crazy. In fact, Kendra isn’t even the first of the Duggar ladies to announce an upcoming baby this year. Two other family members are already pregnant, and a few more could make announcements before the year is over.

Two other Duggar family members have already announced pregnancies this year

Kendra isn’t the only Duggar who announced a pregnancy this year. Joy-Anna Duggar is expected to deliver a baby girl any day now. Joy, who suffered a loss in 2019, has been documenting her pregnancy on Instagram and YouTube since quitting the family’s show, Counting On. Jinger Duggar, who married Jeremy Vuolo in 2016, is currently expecting her second child. Jinger and Jeremy currently live in Los Angeles. The couple’s first child, Felicity, recently celebrated her second birthday. Three pregnancies in the same year would qualify as a boom in most families, but the Duggars are not most families. Followers are convinced more pregnancy announcements are forthcoming.

Family followers have pegged Jessa Duggar as the most likely family member to announce a pregnancy before the end of the year. Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, are the parents to three children. The couple, who married in 2014, welcomed their third child, Ivy Jane, in May 2019. Their first child, Spurgeon Elliot, was born in November 2015. In February 2017, Jessa delivered the couple’s second child, Henry Wilberforce. While there are more than two years between Ivy and her older brother, Henry, it’s entirely possible Jessa could announce another pregnancy before 2020 is over.

Some followers have also speculated that Jill could announce a pregnancy this year. Jill’s youngest child, Samuel Dillard, will turn 4 in December. Derick Dillard has suggested the couple is using birth control to plan their family. Still, with their eldest child set to begin kindergarten, it’s possible another baby could be on the horizon. Family followers, however, largely believe that Derick and Jill will limit the number of children they have. Anna Duggar and Lauren Swanson could also announce pregnancies in 2020, surmise followers. Anna and Lauren both delivered baby girls in November 2019, right around the same time Joseph and Kendra welcomed their daughter, Addison.

How many grandchildren do Jim Bob and Michelle have?

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar might be the parents of 19, but they’ll soon be grandma and grandpa to 20 children, and that’s nowhere near the number of grand-Duggars they are hoping for. Abbie Burnett, who married John David Duggar in 2018, welcomed their first child together in January.  John and Abbie’s daughter, Grace, is the youngest Duggar family member, at least for a few more days. She was officially the seventeenth grandchild born into the family. Joy and her husband, Austin Forsyth, will bring number 18 into the world shortly, and Jinger and Jeremy’s second child will be grandbaby number 19. That means Kendra and Joe’s new addition will be the twentieth grandchild for Jim Bob and Michelle.

Jim Bob once suggested he was excited about welcoming a twentieth grandchild, but he has much bigger plans than that. According to In Touch, Jim Bob once suggested he’d like to have 200 grandchildren running around his expansive Springdale, Arkansas property someday. That means Jim Bob wants to see each of his children have at least ten children each, with at least half of the family having 11 children each. A few of the Duggar kids are on track to fulfill their quota. Joe and Kendra could, conceivably, have more children than Jim Bob and Michelle. Anna and Joshua Duggar are also on track to have at least 10 children together, and it’s possible that Jessa and Ben will welcome six or seven more children during their marriage.
