‘Counting On’ Fans Are Calling Jinger Duggar’s Selfie at the Holocaust Museum ‘Tasteless’
We’ve been following the Duggar family since the early days of 19 Kids and Counting, and it’s hard to believe how fast Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s kids have grown. And while many love following Jessa and her newborn baby or Jill and her controversial husband, Derick Dillard, it’s Jinger who fans really love. Jinger’s seemingly always gone her own way and made more liberal decisions regarding her life path, and fans have shown their support — until now.
Just recently, Jinger posted a selfie while at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, and her followers weren’t having it. Here’s what everyone’s talking about.
Jinger Duggar has always been known as the rebellious member of the family
The Duggars are known for their strict, Christian fundamentalist values — and that means every aspect of their lives, from how they dress to how they date, is impacted. All of the Duggar kids have been quite obedient to the rules of the household, too. But when it comes to the most rebellious child amongst the 19, it might have to go to Jinger. While she’s a soft-spoken, sweet middle child, she’s also made a few eyebrow-raising choices in her life that Jim Bob and Michelle certainly wouldn’t approve of.
Jeremy Vuolo, Jinger’s husband, was a controversial choice, for one. Not only did Jinger start wearing more revealing clothing once she married Jeremy, but they even hugged before they were married — a huge no-no in the Duggar family. And Jinger also seemed to support Jeremy’s brother, Charles Vuolo, via Instagram when he directed a movie about a transgender immigrant.
She recently moved to Los Angeles with her husband and daughter
To add to Jinger’s rebel status even more, she made an extremely far move across the country to Los Angeles. As she and Jeremy wrote on their blog, ” Through much prayer and counsel, the next step for our family is to relocate to Los Angeles to attend Grace Community Church as Jeremy pursues graduate studies at The Master’s Seminary.” Before their move, they were stationed in Laredo, Texas, which they noted they will miss very much.
Now, it seems Jinger and Jeremy are living their best lives in the state of California. According to Jinger’s Instagram, her family has attended soccer games, chowed down on new cuisine, and received visits from Jeremy’s side of the family. Fans are even hoping Jinger and Jeremy will get their own TV series now that they’re so far from the other Duggars. “I wish TLC would give you guys your own show,” one fan commented on this photo.
Fans are not happy with her latest selfie, however
Jinger’s certainly enjoying her time in Los Angeles, and she’s soaking up the landmarks as well. Recently on her Instagram story, she shared a selfie of her and her daughter, Felicity, looking somber while they were at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. “Though it is my third visit to a Holocaust museum, it is nonetheless greatly moving each time,” Jinger captioned the post with a crying emoji.
Unfortunately, those who follower her took to Reddit to express how they really felt about the post. “It’s just not the right place for that sort of act of vanity, or for a ‘tourist pic.’ The right thing to do in places teaching you about the holocaust is to be present, mindful, and contemplative. Probably not on social media,” one thoughtful Reddit user wrote. Another added, “I find this photo supremely tasteless. You don’t have to take photos everywhere you go and put them on social media.” Yet another on the same thread wrote, “The museum is there to educate, for people to reflect and take stock of the atrocities not to pose for a selfie.”
Will Jinger learn her lesson? Probably not — but hopefully if she does read these comments, she’ll think more about when to take an appropriate photo!
