It’s hard to believe we’ve been following the Duggars since the oldest of the 19 kids were just teens. It all began with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, a fundamentalist Christian couple who shared how they raised their gigantic family on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. Through the drama, courtships, weddings, and new Duggar grandchildren we’ve been introduced to over the years, there’s no doubt the family is here to stay on our televisions thanks to programs like Counting On.
Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, have become fan favorites over the years, and it turns out the two are breaking away from the family. Here’s where they’re going, why they’re moving, and why Counting On fans have expected this for ages.
Jinger and Jeremy announced they’re moving to Los Angeles
From her modern ways of dressing to her earrings, Jinger has always been one of the Duggars we assumed was most likely to break the mold. While the family’s based out of Arkansas. Jinger and Jeremy decided to move to Laredo, Texas, at first — but it’s clear that they had further destinations in mind. People reports the couple happily announced they made the decision to move to Los Angeles.
As Jinger and Jeremy told People, “In recent days, God has made it overwhelmingly clear to us that he is leading us out of Laredo. Through much prayer and counsel, the next step for our family is to relocate to Los Angeles to attend Grace Community Church as Jeremy pursues graduate studies at The Master’s Seminary.” The two did mention that leaving their home of Laredo is bittersweet, however, as they’ve made plenty of friends in the area they don’t wish to say goodbye to. But since Jeremy’s ministry work has always taken precedence in their lives, their move to the big city makes even more sense for the family.
Jinger’s discussed her desire to move to a big city before
The move may come as a shock to some, as the Duggars are a tight-knit bunch who don’t stray far from each other. But it seems Jinger has always had aspirations to move to the big city. And since her desires line up perfectly with what Jeremy’s after, it makes sense that she’d finally pull the plug and chase her dreams of living in Los Angeles.
Radar Online reports way back in 2013, there were discussions taking place that involved Jinger wanting to move to New York City. Michelle Duggar reassured her rebellious daughter that what she really wanted was just easier access to retail stores, like Walmart, and instead suggested she go visit infamous brother Josh in Washington, D.C. And in May 2018, Radar Online reported again that there were rumors Jinger and Jeremy were thinking about a Los Angeles move then, too. While Michelle attempted to downplay her daughter’s desires, it seems Jinger’s first move to Texas was only the beginning.
Do her parents and siblings support her?
As Michelle Duggar once told Radar of Jinger, “New York City is way above what we would ever consider a city where she should move!” While she never seemed too supportive of her kids moving far away from Arkansas in the past, she’s probably putting on a happy face for Jinger now, however. The Duggars are all about letting the men rule the household and make the major decisions, and it seems above all else, the move is benefitting Jeremy and his standing with the church.
As for the other Duggar siblings, we bet there’s nothing but love for Jinger and Jeremy as they make their way out west. In Touch Weekly reminds us Jana and Jessa Duggar have visited Jinger when she was living in Texas, so there’s no doubt the more adventurous members of the family will fly out to Los Angeles when Jinger and Jeremy are settled in their new home. Perhaps the happy couple can even convince a few of the other Duggars to move all the way out there with them.
