‘Counting On’ Fans Predicted Josiah Duggar And Lauren Swanson’s Rainbow Baby

Counting On stars Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson recently announced that they were expecting another baby just months after the couple suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. Duggar and Swanson are the fifth couple in the Duggar family (sixth, if you count Cousin Amy) to announce a pregnancy this year.

Fans immediately filled the couple’s Instagram page with messages of congratulations after the announcement, but many of them weren’t surprised. Just a few days prior, fans predicted a baby was on the way after Josiah’s big sister Jill posted a pic from her birthday celebration.

Rainbow baby

Duggar and Swanson announced their pregnancy on May 20th, telling People Magazine that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, and we are looking forward to this new season of parenting together.”

The Counting On couple’s announcement also featured two pictures of the expectant parents. In both photos, Duggar is kissing Swanson on the cheek, and in one they held a sign that said: “Rainbow after the storm. Baby #2,” while the other showed the couple holding sonogram pics.

The couple also revealed that the baby is due in the fall, and they thanked God for helping them through their most difficult moments. Duggar and Swanson added that they couldn’t put into words how much they are looking forward to holding this baby in their arms.

‘Counting On’ fans predicted the pregnancy announcement

Just three days before Duggar and Swanson told the world they had a baby on the way, Josiah’s sister Jill posted a pic from her birthday lunch that the majority of the female members of the family attended, including Swanson.

In the comments, fans started talking about a possible baby bump they thought they spotted on the 20-year-old.

“I could definitely be reaching here, but does Lauren look pregnant to anyone else?” one Counting On fan wrote, while another added, “Looks like Lauren’s [pregnant emoji].”

In early May, Lauren’s sister-in-law Anna Duggar – who just announced she and her husband Josh are expecting baby number six – posted a throwback pic of herself along with Joy-Anna and Jill when they were all pregnant together in 2017, and wrote in the caption that she wondered how many new cousins would be announced before their baby arrives.

Fans immediately took notice and called out Anna for making “not-so-subtle” implications that more Duggar pregnancy announcements were coming.

The worst day of Lauren Swanson’s life

Earlier this year, Duggar and Swanson told Counting On fans that they had suffered a miscarriage last October when they were preparing to leave town for a friend’s wedding. In a clip from the TLC show, Swanson explained that she wasn’t feeling well, and she “was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange” because she normally doesn’t.

At first, Swanson thought she had possibly eaten something with gluten, but when she went to use the restroom that night, “there was the baby. Gone.”

To help them through their grieving process, the couple decided to share their experience with fans because people don’t usually talk about miscarriages, and she wanted to let people know that they weren’t alone.

Swanson said it was the worst day of her life, but the messages she received from fans sharing their “angel baby stories” helped her get through her heartbreak. She explained that it was easy to share the happy times in life, but sharing something difficult can be like putting salt on a wound.

Josiah Duggar honored his wife on Mother’s Day

Just one week before their baby news went public, the Counting On star posted a sweet tribute to his wife on Instagram wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day. Along with posting a pic of the smiling couple, Josiah wrote a heartfelt message in the caption, telling his wife that he wished their first baby – who they named Asa – could have seen what a wonderful mother she is.

The 22-year-old said that Swanson was still a mother even though they didn’t get to hold their “angel baby” and ended his post by telling his wife that he loved her.

New episodes of Counting On return later this year on TLC.
