‘Counting On’: Jana Duggar Admits She’s Been In ‘Multiple’ Courtships But Likes ‘Being Able to Travel’ For Now

At this point, there’s been plenty said about Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter of the famous family who still isn’t married yet. At the age of 29, she isn’t even very old — but by Duggar standards, Jana is way past marrying age. Most of her sisters tied the knot in their late teens or early twenties.

But Jana Duggar is different and seems content with that. While she has expressed interest in settling down with Mr. Right before, she doesn’t seem to be in a rush at all. When one Instagram fan said they’d love to see Jana find a “handsome prince,” she replied, “Maybe he’s riding in on a green turtle instead of a white horse…In the words of Michael Buble, ‘Just haven’t met [him] yet!'”

Now Jana Duggar is addressing the marriage question all over again. And honestly? She’s happy to travel for now while she waits to find her forever life partner.

The Duggars don’t date – they enter courtships

Duggars reject many modern customs that most of us take for granted, like going to the beach in bathing suits, watching secular movies, and going through the rite of passage known as dating. Instead of going on casual dates when they’re young, Duggar kids enter courtships instead.

In short, courtships are unique compared to dating because they’re automatically more serious. “The main difference between courting and dating is setting boundaries for yourself so that you don’t cross over those,” Jill Duggar explained on 19 Kids & Counting in 2014.

For the Duggars and other fundamentalist Christians, that means no kissing, no physical contact, no private unchaperoned dates, and no secret phone calls.

Jana Duggar admitted she’s been in several failed courtships

In a promo for an upcoming episode of Counting On, Jana Duggar revealed what most fans suspected all along — that she’s been in more than one courtship, but things never worked out.

In the exclusive promo shared with US Weekly, Jana said she’s been involved with “several guys” in the past but didn’t want to marry a single one. And who can blame her? Choosing someone to spend your life with isn’t a small decision.

“Different ones of us [Duggars] have been in relationships, courtships, whatever you want to label it as,” she said. “Of course, it doesn’t always end in marriage and that’s OK. You have to sometimes talk to someone, get to know someone and realize, you know what, it doesn’t have to end in marriage.”

For now, Jana Duggar is content to travel

Jana Duggar is still living at home with her parents but that doesn’t mean she’s just sitting around the house. Instead, Jana has been spotted taking frequent trips, including to Los Angeles to visit her sister Jinger Vuolo.

“There can be that pressure, I guess. Everyone’s always giving their suggestions,” Jana Duggar says in the promo. “Some will pressure in some ways, I’m like, ‘Y’all when the time comes.’ … If I was sitting here waiting to get married, I think that would be more depressing but instead, I really look at this as, OK what are other things that I could be doing right now that maybe I can’t do later?”

She continues: “I’ve really enjoyed the different opportunities that I’ve had [like] travel; even still being able to travel with my family that maybe my married siblings can’t do.”

We’re all rooting for Jana to take as long as she needs deciding on who to marry!
