‘Counting On’: Jana Duggar Just Explained Who Made the Duggar Thanksgiving Dinner on Instagram

The Duggars love a celebration — and Thanksgiving is no different. Counting On fans have been keeping up with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar for years, and viewers know that all major holidays are celebrated at the gigantic Arkansas Duggar home. For 2019’s turkey day, the Duggar Family Instagram already shared photos from the event — and it’s clear close family members as well as unfamiliar distant relatives were invited to grab a plate of turkey.

Jana Duggar still lives at home with Jim Bob and Michelle. And when one of her Instagram followers asked who made all the food, she explained exactly how it’s done. Here’s what she wrote.

The Duggar Family Instagram posted all about their Thanksgiving feast

Jim Bob and Michelle have made family time a priority since their kids were young, and that includes holidays. And on the Duggar Family Instagram, which appears to be run by the famous parents, they shared exactly how they spent their turkey day this year.

“Before we eat, our family tradition is to go around the room and for each person to share what they’re thankful for. The challenge is, everyone has to say something different,” the family captioned their post. “We love having a house full of people for the holidays and invite those who don’t have family in the area to spend the holidays with us! We say, there’s always room for one more!”

It’s clear the Duggar family home had quite a few guests, too. Their photos included many tables full of family and friends as well as a few of the dishes they served.

Jana explained who made the meal

The Duggars have always been all about teamwork — and Thanksgiving was no different. Jana posted her own photos to Instagram showing off the meal and time spent with her family at Jim Bob and Michelle’s home.

“Thanksgiving isn’t only about the turkey & the dressing, it’s about being thankful for what God has given us!” the 29-year-old captioned her post. “These are a few things I’m thankful for… the Bible, salvation, church, family, friends, health, traveling mercies, cozy home, hot running water, coffee, etc. and the list could go on & on.”

A fan commented on the post and asked, “Who actually did all that delicious cooking?”

To that, Jana answered, “We all work together when cooking for Thanksgiving! My Mom and Anna did the Turkeys, Johannah & Jennifer made the Greenbean Casserole, Tyler & Jackson helped with the Corn & Rolls… the rest of us and a few friends made the rest!”

Having all hands on deck in the kitchen for Thanksgiving is pretty normal, but given what we know about the Duggars, we wouldn’t be surprised if the kids did the majority of the cooking. In Touch Weekly reminds us back in 2013, Michelle wrote a blog post about making meals for such a large family, and she explained her kids would work in “teams” to put together dinner.

“We usually have teams of three or four kids that’ll work together on the cooking. If you get more than that, there are really just too many cooks in the kitchen!” she wrote. “There’s a leader and then the rest of them follow the instructions of the leader. We label everything so that whoever is in there can find things and know where they belong when they’re doing cleanup.”

Now that many of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids are grown, many Counting On fans also suspect that Jana is the one doing the majority of the cooking and cleaning for her younger siblings, too. We’re not sure if that’s really the case, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Jana helped out with Thanksgiving prep more than she lets on.
