‘Counting On’: Jed Duggar Posted About Golf and Nothing Else Amidst Black Lives Matter Movement
We know the Duggar family well thanks to TLC’s Counting On. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar thrust their 19 kids into the spotlight, and now it’s their oldest kids’ turns to share what they’re up to via social media. While Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar are getting a ton of attention, relative Instagram newcomer Jedidiah Duggar is also using social media to promote his political career.
So far, Jed’s used Instagram to share some photos of his family and heavily push his agenda to his Arkansas followers. But now that the Black Lives Matter movement is prevalent across Instagram, Jed appears to be totally ignoring it. Instead, he’s posting about golf. Here’s what’s going on.
Many of the Duggars participated in Blackout Tuesday to show support for Black Lives Matter
The Duggars are known for their strict fundamentalist Christian views and Republican political beliefs. We can’t forget that Jim Bob served as a Republican member on the Arkansas House of Representatives. Despite it all, they surprised followers by posting in support of the Black Lives Matter movement after the death of George Floyd. Many of the Duggars added blackout posts to their Instagrams for Blackout Tuesday.
“Made in the image of God. Psalm 8:3-5,” the Duggar Family Instagram captioned their blackout post. And Jinger, Jessa, and Jill also posted their support.
“Wow this is the first time I’ve seen the Duggar’s support anything having to do with black people,” a follower commented on the Duggar Family Instagram’s post.
Another commented, “glad to see y’all supporting BLM on this day. Our Black brothers and sisters’ hearts are aching due to racism and hate in our country.”
Jedidiah Duggar is going into Arkansas politics
While some of the Duggars voice their personal and political opinions to Instagram from time to time, it’s Jed who’s made an entire Instagram dedicated to his political platform. He created the page at the end of 2019, and it’s going strong with information regarding his political campaign and what he stands for.
“I’m announcing my candidacy for Arkansas State Representative District 89 in Springdale. I’d appreciate your prayers, support and your vote!” he posted to Instagram back in November 2019. And he then listed what he’s in support of as a candidate. “I’m a Conservative. Pro-Life. Pro Second Amendment. Pro Religious Liberty. Combat the Opioid Crisis. Lower Taxes. More Jobs & Growth. Strong Economy,” he added.
Jed’s added plenty of photos of him with his family, too. And when a local community was devastated by a tornado back in March, he posted additional photos showing the clean-up efforts that he was a part of.
He posted about golf despite the current movement and his political agenda
The Black Lives Matter movement is picking up significant steam across the U.S., and it’s certainly a hot topic for those in politics. It seems Jed’s choosing to remain silent over the issue, though. He posted a photo of him with his mom, Michelle, on May 10. Then, on June 16, he posted another photo — but it showed him playing golf and mentioned nothing of current matters.
“Excited to welcome @topgolf to Northwest Arkansas!” he captioned the post. “Fun evening, perfect weather!”
It seems Jed’s silence on important issues isn’t bothering his followers, though.
“We have one getting ready to open here in Augusta, GA. I can’t wait to check it out!” one follower commented.
Jed wrote back, “Lots of fun!”
So, will Jed ever mention the current movement, especially as it bleeds into politics? His silence certainly speaks volumes, so we’re betting he’ll remain mum on this one.
