‘Counting On’: Jessa Duggar Admitted to Developing a Seriously Messy Habit

The Duggars have graced our TV screen for years thanks to shows like 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. And while the major focus is on Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s adult kids these days, we can’t forget that we learned a ton about the family’s dynamics during the early years. From how they shop for clothing to how they afford groceries every month, Jim Bob and Michelle took to the small screen to share it all.

Now, fans are noticing some of Jim Bob and Michelle’s habits rubbing off on their kids. And it seems the Duggars are known for being quite the messy family. Jessa Duggar even took to YouTube to talk about one seriously messy habit she’s working to correct. Here’s what she said.

The Duggars are known for their messy, unkempt homes

With 19 kids running around the house, there’s no doubt Michelle Duggar barely had any time to cook, clean, or organize her home. And it seems that’s rubbed off on Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids. We love following Jessa, Jill and a few of the other older Duggars on Instagram, but some of their more candid posts and “real” moments show just how unkempt their homes are.

In Touch Weekly reminds us Jill’s showed just how sloppy her room is in the past. She posted a photo of her with husband Derick Dillard as he’s lounging on the floor with his laptop, and there are piles of junk all around them. And in other posts from Jill, she’s showed off overflowing diapers.

She’s not the only one, either. Josh Duggar, the most infamous of the family, doesn’t have an Instagram — but his wife, Anna does. And she posted a photo of one of their six kids eating pretzels off the floor after they were spilled everywhere.

While Jill and Anna aren’t afraid to share their messes, it might Jessa who takes the cake. In Touch Weekly reminds us Jessa’s showed off gross stains, dirty dishes, and piles of mess in her home. And the one instance that no one will ever forget involved dirty diapers.

Back in 2017, Jessa posted a photo to Facebook showing off a mountain of dirty diapers. While she added it to social media to ask other moms if they could relate, few thought it was funny. Instead, Counting On fans are still thinking about just how disgusting the photo really was.

“Anyway, now that I’m a mother and deal with dirty diapers on the regular, I cannot fathom how bad that thing would smell,” one Reddit user reminisced about the diapers. “It boggles my mind that she let that happen!”

Another wrote, “She was definitely trying to be relatable, but I don’t know of ANY mother who would let a mountain of dirty nappies pile up like that and think it was social media worthy.”

She admitted to another habit that kept her house a mess

While the diaper mountain didn’t go over well, Jessa still tries to give her followers relatable content. And she posted a video to YouTube on Dec. 16 detailing how she organizes her and her family’s clothes. Not only does she give helpful tips for organization, but she also admitted to throwing all of her clean clothes in a big pile and never picking them up off the floor.

“I used to be the kind of mom who would wash the laundry, get it all clean, throw it in a pile, ‘I’ll get to that later,'” Jessa admitted. “That clean laundry would pile up … I would have to block out, like, an hour to put away laundry.”

Jessa’s working to combat her messy habits though. She noted in the video that she now does smaller loads of laundry so she can put away the clean clothes in just five to 10 minutes.

From the looks of her video, Jessa’s home looks quite orderly, too — so it looks like her messiest ways may be behind her. As for the next generation of Duggars, we’ll have to wait and see what their homes look like.
