‘Counting On’: Jessa Duggar Announces The Birth of Her Daughter
Jessa Duggar is a #boymom no more! The Counting On Star has officially given birth to her third child, and it’s a girl. The bundle of joy, born on May 26, is the first daughter for Ben and Jessa. The couple, who wed in November 2014 are already parents to Spurgeon Elliot, 3 and Henry Wilberforce, 2.
What did Ben and Jessa name their daughter?
Jessa and Ben announced the arrival of their daughter via UsWeekly. The pair also shared the name they have chosen to give their newest arrival. According to their statement, Ivy Jane arrived safely at the couple’s home.
The short and sweet name is a serious departure from their previous choices. Jessa’s eldest son has perhaps the most polarizing Duggar name in the history of the family. While several family members have attempted to call him Elliot or Eli, Spurgeon or Spurgy seems to be sticking, much to the dismay of many fans.
When Henry, 2, arrived fans were relieved to find out the youngster was given a much more wearable first name. His middle name, however, is still a mouthful. Ivy seems to have gotten off easy. Both her first and middle names are feminine, classic and easily wearable.
Where was Ivy Jane Seewald born?
Jessa and several of her sisters have dealt with backlash for attempting homebirths. Joy-Anna and Jill were both rushed into emergency surgeries after attempting lengthy and painful homebirths. Joy-Anna’s son, Gideon, was born via c-section after hospital staff figured out he was breech. Jill Duggar’s two children, Israel and Sam were both born via emergency c-sections when labor did not progress.
Jessa, however, has fared much better with her attempts. While she was rushed to the hospital after the delivery of Spurgeon due to heavy bleeding, she was able to deliver him naturally. Henry’s homebirth went far smoother and no emergency transfer was required. It appears Jessa had a similar experience with Ivy Jane.
Ivy’s birth weight might have something to do with the success, as well. The youngest Seewald was born at 7lbs and 14 ounces. Her big brothers tipped the scales at nearly 10lbs and nearly 9lbs. Joy-Anna and Jill both had large babies, as well. Joy-Anna’s Gideon was born at over 10lbs.
There are more babies to come for the Duggar family
While Jessa is the first Duggar lady to have a baby in 2019, she won’t be the last. Kendra, Joy-Anna, and Anna Duggar all announced pregnancies within weeks of each other. Kendra and Joy-Anna are expecting their babies to arrive in the fall.
Meanwhile, Anna is slated for a November 2019 delivery. The newest addition will be the sixth child for Anna and her disgraced husband, Joshua Duggar. More recently Lauren Swanson and Josiah Duggar announced that they too are expecting a special delivery. The couple, who shared the news of their miscarriage in a heartbreaking video earlier this year, is due in the early winter.
