‘Counting On’: Jill Duggar Reveals the Sweet Meaning Behind Her Kids’ Name For Their Father
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard might not film for Counting On anymore, but the couple still has a massive social media presence. They’ve kept plenty of fans through the years, though Duggar has received some hate for the way she parents her children. Despite the criticism, Duggar seems very close with her husband and two kids. And she recently revealed the reason behind the kids’ sweet nickname for their dad.
Duggar and Dillard left ‘Counting On’ in 2017
The drama surrounding Duggar and Dillard’s exit from the family’s reality show in 2017 has never fully been cleared. There were reports that Dillard and his family were fired from the show after he posted homophobic and transphobic tweets about other TLC stars, but Dillard remains adamant that his family left the show on their own terms. And recently, Duggar revealed that the two decided to stop filming because reality TV started to become too much for their family to handle. However, fans have always remained skeptical about what the truth actually is.
Duggar recently revealed why the kids call Dillard ‘Papa’
Duggar loves posting about her children on social media, as any mother would. And sometimes, she takes the time to answer fans’ questions about her family life. Duggar recently posted a photo of her children alongside their father with the caption, “He said, ‘Hey Papa, you should wear your chacos too…like me!” In the comments section, one fan asked why Duggar’s kids called their father “Papa” instead of “Dad.” Duggar revealed that it had to do with the travels they took when the boys were younger. “When we were in Central America all the kids referred to their dads as ‘papa’ or ‘papi’ so it stuck,” Duggar said. It’s sweet to know that the kids took something from their experiences at such a young age.
Fans have noticed Duggar’s troubled relationship with her family
Though Duggar and her little family seem happy, fans have noticed that her kids hardly spend any time with Jessa’s kids, who are very similar in age. It has led many to wonder if there are problems between the Dillards and the other Duggars. The Duggar family recently took a trip out to California to visit Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo, but Dillard and Duggar did not attend. Plus, the two are hardly ever in any family photos and haven’t attended family events in a long time.
Duggar said she has no plans to return to ‘Counting On’
Duggar answered fans questions about a possible Counting On return in a recent Instagram photo. When someone asked if she had any plans to return to the show, she clarified that their family wouldn’t be coming back any time soon. “No plans [to return to the show] currently. It just all got to be too much for our little family,” Duggar said. She later clarified in a comment on the same thread that she and Dillard “weren’t fired” from the show. Despite the Dillards not making a comeback, they still seem to have a pretty large fan base — many of whom hope Duggar still has a close relationship with the rest of her family.
