‘Counting On’: When is John Duggar and Abbie Burnett’s Baby Due?

Fans of Counting On have been waiting eagerly for the newlywed couple, John David Duggar and Abbie Burnett, to announce a pregnancy. The two wed back in November, and since the Duggars typically don’t waste much time starting families, people were instantly eager to learn when the two would welcome their first child. Now, Duggar and Burnett have finally announced their pregnancy. When is the baby due?

Several Duggars announced pregnancies this year

2019 has been the year of the Duggar babies. Back in January, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald announced that they were expecting their third child; the two welcomed a daughter in late spring. Within a couple months of Jessa Duggar’s announcement, several family members announced pregnancies as well. Anna Duggar (married to Josh), Kendra Duggar (married to Joe), Lauren Duggar (married to Josiah), and Joy Duggar (married to Austin Forsyth), all announced pregnancies for the fall of 2019. Unfortunately, Joy Duggar and Austin Forsyth lost their baby at 20 weeks. Josiah and Lauren Duggar had a miscarriage back in 2018, so fans were elated when they announced another pregnancy.

Fans thought Duggar and Burnett would get pregnant sooner than they did

John David Duggar, the second oldest Duggar son behind Josh, wed Abbie Burnett back in November 2018. The Duggars tend to get pregnant right away, so fans were shocked when, three months after the wedding, the two still hadn’t announced a pregnancy. Duggar and Burnett never told fans why they decided to wait to have a child; it’s possible they had trouble getting pregnant or that they simply didn’t want to have kids right away. However, in early August, the two announced that they were finally expecting their first baby.

The couple will likely welcome a baby in early February

Most couples wait at least 12 weeks before announcing a pregnancy, since the first trimester has the highest rate of miscarriage. It’s typically safe to announce a pregnancy after that first three-month period has passed. Since Duggar and Burnett announced their pregnancy in early August, it’s safe to say she was at least 12 weeks along when they told the public. With that, the two will likely welcome their baby in early February 2020, though they haven’t confirmed a due date. It’s also possible they waited a few weeks longer to announce, so the baby might come earlier than that. Either way, he or she probably won’t arrive until 2020.

The two don’t know the baby’s gender yet

It doesn’t seem like Duggar and Burnett know the gender of their baby yet; most gender reveals occur between 16 and 20 weeks, so it’s clear the couple’s baby is younger than that. The Duggars tend to have exciting gender reveals, however Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald opted to keep their baby’s gender a secret. It seems to be the year of the girl for the Duggars, since most of the pregnant women are having girls, but it’s unclear whether Duggar and Burnett will have that same luck. The two will likely have a gender reveal in the coming weeks.
