With so many Duggars in the spotlight, it’s hard to know who to follow. But fans seem to really enjoy learning more about Josiah Duggar and his wife, Lauren, as they’re featured on TLC’s Counting On. While the couple keeps a lower profile than some of the other famous family members, like Jinger, Jessa, or Jana, fans are still excited to hear more about their baby who’s due this fall and what their married life is like since they tied the knot in 2018.
Aside from their marriage, fans are also aware that Lauren miscarried earlier in 2019. And she recently posted about it on Instagram, which garnered some fan reactions. It seems she didn’t jibe with one commentator, however, as she called them out to tell them they didn’t understand her post at all.
Lauren Duggar has been quite public about her miscarriage
The Duggars are well-known for having a lot of kids, and when Lauren and Josiah found out they were pregnant the first time, they were ecstatic to have a child of their own. Sadly, they miscarried — and while they were quiet about the incident at first, Lauren has since spoken out about losing her baby.
“At first, we kind of wanted to just stay quiet about the news, but knew that since everyone is anticipating for us to announce that were having a baby, we felt like it was time that we told everyone that our first and only baby is in heaven,” the couple wrote on Instagram. “You can imagine it was devastating to the both of us. Our expectations of setting up a baby room, hearing the heart beat, feeling the baby’s first kick in mommys tummy, holding our little one and getting to to see our precious baby were – Shattered. Gone. Right before our eyes.”
Now, the couple is expecting another child while still remembering their first, as they wrote on this post, “So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven.”
She recently made a new post on Instagram about the loss of her baby
Despite the pure joy of their rainbow baby, Lauren and Josiah still feel a deep connection to their firstborn child. And on Oct. 10, Lauren posted a photo of baby clothes to her Instagram with a caption about baby loss awareness month. “Sending love this month to any parent who has lost a baby. Losing a little life at any stage is heartbreaking and devastating and should not go unnoticed,” she started the post.
Lauren then continued by reminding mothers who’ve lost their babies that they’re not alone and that she stands with them through the pain. “For all you mamas, yes, even you mamas who’s arms have never had the chance to hold your babies-you’re a Mama! Remember, that you are loved. You are a warrior. You are not alone. You are not forgotten,” Lauren added.
Lauren told a follower that they’re not fully understanding her post
Many fans shared encouraging words with Lauren, but the Counting On star replied back to one of her followers who suggested she’s stuck in the past. “Please accept my unsolicited but motherly advice to you… look forward…keep your 1st pregnancy in your heart and move forward with great anticipation & excitement for your 1st born child,” the follower wrote. You seem very sad…try to seek guidance on keeping life in perspective because life is full of heartache and disappointment.”
To that, Lauren commented back, “Thank you for the advice and concern, but I think you miss understood me. I didn’t write this for others to feel sorry for me or because I am sad. Instead, I write this so others will go out and be an encouragement and love on mothers of lost little ones.” Lauren then noted that she’s “extremely happy” at the moment, but she’ll always carry some sadness for the baby she lost.
Lauren and Josiah will certainly never forget their firstborn, but we’re happy to see them so excited for their little girl to come!
