‘Counting On’: Joy Anna Duggar Just Shared Her First Instagram Post Since Her Heartbreaking Miscarriage
It’s only been a couple of weeks since Joy Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth shared the devastating news. After going to their 20-week ultrasound and finding out the gender of their unborn child, they learned that their daughter, who they named Annabell Elise, had passed away.
Experiencing a miscarriage is difficult at any stage. But first-trimester pregnancy loss is a lot more common than the one Joy Duggar went through. The Forsyths were looking forward to welcoming a little girl to the family and had already told everyone they were expecting. They felt the loss of their daughter deeply.
Now after taking a few weeks to grieve and stay off social media, Joy posted her first update since announcing the miscarriage.
Joy and Austin shared a photo of their son Gideon
Though one child can’t replace another, it’s clear that Joy Duggar is cuddling her living son closely in the wake of the loss. In her first post since the miscarriage, she shared a photo of Gideon sleeping on her and cuddled close. The caption just had three emojis and no words.
Fans immediately began voicing their support for the 21-year-old reality star, saying: “So very sorry for you all on the loss of your precious baby girl,” and “My heart hurts for you guys but that little man is the best love a mommas heart could use right now. You continue to be in my prayers.”
“Precious moments that are worth more than anything!” another fan agreed. “Hugs and prayers.”
“I’m sure your little boy is such a comfort to you. So many people are thinking of you and praying for your healing, physical and emotional,” said another.
The Forsyths are relying on faith and family during this hard time
In the post where they announced the miscarriage, the Forsyths assured fans that they were relying on their deep faith to make it through the devastation of their miscarriage.
“Today marks one week since we heard these words… ‘So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don’t hear a heartbeat or see any movement.’ We had gone in for our 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal. It was a baby girl,” they wrote.
“Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time,” they added. “Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord. In the words of King David after the loss of his baby, ‘I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me’ (2 Sam 12:23). We don’t grieve as those who have no hope because we trust that we will see this little one again.”
Joy wasn’t the only Duggar expecting a baby this year
Joy was one of several pregnant Duggar wives who were expecting babies this year. Jessa Seewald just gave birth to her daughter Ivy Jane a few weeks ago. Anna Duggar, Lauren Duggar, Kendra Duggar, and cousin Amy King are all expecting, too.
Seeing all the other pregnant women is probably difficult for Joy, but at least she has the love and support of her family to help her get through it.
