‘Counting On’: Joy-Anna Duggar Just Told Instagram Followers She’s Not ‘Strong’ After Miscarriage

We’ve been watching the Duggars for years, and it’s hard to believe how quickly Michelle and Jim Bob’s kids have grown. Many of their kids, like Jessa, Jill, and Jinger, are married with children of their own — and while Joy-Anna Duggar is just 21, she’s also married and has a son with husband Austin Forsyth. Sadly, the Forsyths shared upsetting news recently. While they were expecting baby No. 2, Joy-Anna miscarried nearly five months into the pregnancy.

Friends and family have come to Joy-Anna and Austin’s aid during this time. And Joy-Anna also just posted to Instagram that she doesn’t view herself as “strong” despite what she’s been through. Here’s why.

Joy-Anna Duggar miscarried her child after 20 weeks

There’s no doubt the Duggars adore children. Jim Bob and Michelle famously have 19 kids of their own, and many of their children who have since started families have also said they’ll take as many kids as God allows. Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth were also looking forward to their second child after the birth of their first son, Gideon. Sadly, The couple announced on Instagram that Joy-Anna miscarried at 20 weeks.

“Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Yes, it still hurts and we have cried countless tears, but we know that we can trust the Lord. In the words of King David after the loss of his baby, ‘I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me’ (2 Sam 12:23),” the couple wrote in this Instagram post. And they also posted photos to Instagram of a photoshoot they did after the miscarriage.

Friends, family, and fans showed support

The Duggars are no strangers to bad press, and Joy-Anna received backlash when she first announced her second pregnancy. But after the miscarriage, many came to her aid. Older sister Jill even posted the photo of Joy-Anna and Austin in the hospital with the caption, “Joy Joy & Austin, our hearts break for y’all with the loss of your precious Annabell Elise.” And Jessa also posted a heartfelt message for her grieving sister and brother-in-law. “Annabell will forever be in our hearts. We love you all and are praying for God’s peace and comfort during this time,” she posted.

Fans also shared their well-wishes for Joy-Anna and her husband, too. “Oh Joy… this is heartbreaking. I admire you for how you handle it and I envy you a bit for your complete faith,” a fan commented on their Instagram post. And another wrote, “My heart is so broken for your family, continued prayers for you all.”

Joy-Anna recently posted that she’s not ‘strong’ even after the miscarriage

The grieving process is long and difficult, but Joy-Anna and Austin have made it known that they believe their faith in God will carry them through the toughest times. Joy-Anna recently posted a photo of a religious verse with the caption, “Yes, those days come that I miss my little girl so much. Wishing I could have met her, seen Austin love on her and Gideon play with her. Yet, God has given us so much comfort.” She also added, “People say that I am strong, but I am not. It is Jesus’ strength that has carried me through. He’s given me a peace that passes all understanding and he has given me His JOY.”

While Joy-Anna may not consider herself to be strong, her followers strongly disagree. “You are strong. Any mother who loses a baby and keeps on going is strong. I am glad your faith is getting you through this incredibly heartbreaking time but you deserve some credit.” Another fan wrote, “You are the epitome of strength and grace. You beautiful baby girl is wrapped in the arms of Jesus! Prayers for healing for your family.”

The Forsyths may lean on their faith for comfort, but fans want to make sure the grieving parents feel loved and stable amongst their family and friends, too. We wish the family well during this difficult time.
