‘Counting On’: Kendra Caldwell and Joseph Duggar’s Son Garrett is Older Than Her Baby Brother
Counting On stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have watched their children grow up and start families of their own over the years. While there are plenty of new faces in the family, there is one Duggar that has an interesting situation on his hands. As Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Caldwell, prepare to welcome their second child, their first son, Garrett Duggar, is actually older than Caldwell’s youngest brother.
Inside Kendra Caldwell’s family
Back in 2017, Counting On fans were first introduced to Caldwell as her romance with Duggar was heating up. During an episode of Counting On, Duggar revealed that he met Caldwell while attending a church that was pastored by her father, Paul Caldwell.
The show rarely shows any family other than the Duggars, but the courtship offered a first look at Caldwell’s parents, who are significantly younger than Jim Bob and Michelle.
According to Romper, the duo is in their late 30s and early 40s, which is why one of Caldwell’s brother is actually younger than her first son. Out of all that has happened over the years, this is one of the stranger things to come out of the show.
Shortly after Caldwell and Duggar announced Garrett’s due date in 2018, she turned around and revealed that her mother was pregnant with her eighth kid.
“We found that my mom was expecting about a month ago,” Caldwell shared.
Kendra Caldwell added that being pregnant at the same time as her mom has been an interesting experience. Not only did they get to share tips, but it also proved to be a unique bonding experience.
“And I guess our relationship has gone more to a different level,” Caldwell added.
A few weeks ago, Caldwell shared an update about her second pregnancy, revealing that she is now 35 weeks into her term. She also posted some photos of Garrett hanging out with his uncle, Isaiah, who is officially five months his junior.
Although they are uncle and nephew on paper, we have a hunch that they’ll develop more of a cousin vibe growing up.
How are the Caldwells and Duggars alike?
Although they are different families, the Caldwells and Duggars actually share a lot in common.
For starters, both families are from Arkansas. The Caldwells call Fayetteville, Arkansas their home while the Duggars are from a town that is around 10 miles away called Tontitown.
Both parents also brought up their children in strict Christian households. The Caldwells belong to a church called the Lighthouse Baptist Church, which the Duggars have been known to frequent over the years.
Just like the Duggars, the Caldwells are no strangers to stirring up controversy.
A few years ago, Kendra Caldwell’s father took some heat for handing out flyers that alluded to the idea that God does not love LGBTQ people. At the time, he was running for a seat in the Arkansas state representation and Josh Duggar supported his campaign on social media.
Josh, of course, made headlines in 2015 after it was learned that he molested several underage girls when he was younger. The scandal led to the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting and Josh has yet to step back into the spotlight.
Caldwell’s family, meanwhile, is also large — though it is not as big as the Duggars. In all, Caldwell has eight brothers and sisters, including Lauren, Micah, Nathan, Timothy, Olivia, Jesiah, and Isaiah.
When is Kendra Caldwell expecting her second child?
Back in June of 2018, Caldwell and Duggar welcomed their first son. Fast forward less than a year after Garrett’s birth and the couple announced that they are expecting their second child in April.
The pair confirmed the exciting news on social media and told fans that they are thrilled about giving Garrett a sibling.
Caldwell is expected to give birth sometime next month, though the two have not revealed an official due date. It is unclear if the birth will be featured on Counting On.
Duggar and Caldwell exchanged vows in September of 2017. The two courted for around six months before making the big commitment.
Fans can watch Kendra Caldwell and Joseph Duggar in action when new episodes of Counting On air Tuesday nights on TLC.
