‘Counting On’: Lauren Swanson Shares Her Secrets to Finding Cute Maternity Clothes on a Budget
“Feeling so extremely thankful to carry such a precious gift! Can’t believe that l will finally get to hold my baby in my arms before too long!” she wrote in a recent Instagram post.
It’s the first child for the couple, who experienced a miscarriage last year.
‘Counting On’ fans love Lauren’s maternity style
Counting On fans seem almost as excited about the baby’s arrival as her mom.
“Ohh how exciting .. congratulations to you both!” wrote one on Lauren’s latest social media post.
“You look gorgeous Lauren!! 💕 Can’t wait to see the pics of your baby girl!” commented another.
Several people were also impressed by Lauren’s cute maternity style. In the photo she shared, Lauren is wearing a black skirt, orange T-shirt, and white knit cardigan.
“Where did you find your orange shirt? It’s very fall looking, I love it,” asked one person. “Where is your sweater from ? I’m hoping not the thrift store because that’s harder to find,” another wondered, while someone else was curious where she was buying her skirts.
Lauren shares her secret for finding cute maternity clothes on a budget
While Lauren wasn’t born a Duggar, she apparently has adopted the family’s famously thrifty ways. She shared that most of her outfit came either from discount department stores like Marshalls or was bought secondhand.
Lauren revealed that her shirt was purchased at Marshalls and that she found her sweater at TJ Maxx. For skirts, she said she often turned to online thrift stores. “t’s very hard for me to find skirts, especially maternity skirts,” she replied to the person who asked where she found that item. “I find most of mine on #thredUP,” she added, referring to the site that lets you buy and sell secondhand clothes.
She’s not the only Duggar who loves to bargain shop
Lauren is definitely not the only Duggar who enjoys bargain hunting. Her stylish sister-in-law Jinger has also revealed that some of her wardrobe is sourced from TJ Maxx. And thrift store shopping is a favorite pastime for many family members, though their spouses aren’t always so enthusiastic. When Jessa picked up some used toys for her kids at a thrift store, her husband Ben Seewald was skeptical, worrying that the items might be dirty. Jinger’s husband Jeremy Vuolo also had to be persuaded that shopping secondhand was worthwhile, though he eventually came around.
“I’m definitely game to go thrift store shopping with Jinger,” he said on an episode of Counting On. “It saves money and now it’s proven that you do find good stuff.”
The Duggars also love Cousin Amy’s boutique
While the Duggars love a deal, they also make a point of supporting businesses owned by their friends and family. Cousin Amy Duggar has a boutique, 3130 Clothing, where the Duggar girls often shop. And Lauren has shown off her outfits from the Bates Sisters Boutique, which is run by three sisters from the Bates family, who are Duggar family friends and the stars of Bringing Up Bates.
