‘Counting On’ Stars Josiah Duggar And Lauren Swanson Open Up About Expecting A Baby After Heartache

After suffering a devastating miscarriage last October, Counting On stars Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson recently announced that they are expecting again. They revealed the news to fans with a sweet picture that featured Duggar kissing his wife on the cheek while they held a sign that said “Rainbow after the storm. Baby #2.”  And now, the young couple has posted a video on the Duggar family website where they reveal how they found out they were pregnant a second time.

Miracles do happen

In the video clip, Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson are standing side-by-side in their living room, and Duggar started by telling fans that they had some exciting news to share: they are “expecting baby number two.”

After losing a little one through miscarriage – who they had planned on naming Asa – the couple shared that they were excited to have another baby on the way.

“We’re just extremely grateful for this baby, and just going through a lot really shows us how good God is and that miracles do happen,” added Swanson, as a photo of the couple holding a baby onesie that read “little miracle” appeared on the screen.

Josiah was sure Lauren was pregnant

According to Cafe Mom, Josiah revealed that they found out about the pregnancy at around 4 o’clock in the morning because he had a hunch.

“I went to the store and got a test because I thought for sure she was probably expecting, and sure enough she was!” said 22-year-old Josiah Duggar.

Lauren added that the couple cried tears of joy because they were so thankful for “another sweet blessing.”

Earlier this year, the couple shared with fans that they had suffered a miscarriage because they wanted to let fans know that they weren’t alone. And, they also said that hearing stories from their fans about their “angel babies” helped them get through their grief but getting past the loss wasn’t easy.

During last season of Counting On, the 20-year-old explained that it was difficult to see her sisters with their babies, but she was holding up as much as she could.

She also said that the miscarriage made her then-four-month marriage to Josiah Duggar feel much longer, and there wasn’t a day that went by where she didn’t think about her little one and the memories they could have had.

Josiah Duggar wants his baby to be just like his wife

While Josiah wouldn’t mind if this rainbow baby inherited his sense of humor, his biggest wish is that the baby will grow up to be just like Lauren and have her looks. The couple has also agreed that Josiah will get to pick the name if they have a son, and Lauren will get the naming rights if they have a daughter.

Josiah predicts that they will have a girl – which is rare in this generation of the Duggar family – but Lauren just wants a healthy baby.

When they announced their pregnancy, the couple said that the baby would arrive this fall, and they couldn’t put into words how much they look forward to holding this baby in their arms.

A Duggar baby boom

Josiah Duggar and Lauren’s pregnancy announcement makes them the fifth expecting couple in the family. Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, are set to welcome baby number three any day now, Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell have baby number two on the way, Josh and Anna Duggar are pregnant with baby number six, and Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth are expecting their second child in November.

With five pregnant women in the family at one time, the ladies are planning a maternity photo shoot to commemorate this big event. Jessa -who just hit week 38 in her pregnancy – told fans about the shoot and added that she hopes it happens fast so she can be a part of it.

Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson will return in new seasons of Counting On later this year on TLC.
