‘Counting On’: The Duggars Just Listed a Rehabbed Mansion
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have made a rather nice life for themselves. While the couple is best known for their supersized family and reality TV shows, they made a rather comfortable living before TLC came knocking. A commercial real estate guru, Jim Bob has spent several years buying up neglected properties and turning them for a profit. Fans, however, are a little surprised by the family’s latest acquisition. They just listed a 10,000 square foot property, complete with a 3,500 square foot garage for an eye-popping $1.8 million.
What is the story behind the sprawling mansion the Duggar family renovated?
Springdale, Arkansas has a median real estate price of $185,000, according to Trulia. The Duggar’s rehab listing is undoubtedly out of place based on what houses are going for in the area, but let’s be honest, most homes in the area aren’t over 10,000 square feet.
According to Realtor, the home was built in the late 1960s and was modeled after a Frank Lloyd Wright property. The spacious home might be truly stunning, but the hefty price tag has some fans worried that the family, known for their commercial real estate holdings, will have a tough time unloading it.
Is anyone living in the home now?
Reddit fans had surmised that Lauren and Josiah would take up residence in the home until it sold, but it doesn’t look like that is happening. It’s an awful spacious property for just a couple. They, instead, have taken ownership of another property that Jim Bob Duggar owns. It is notably much more modest than the sprawling retreat.
If the family can’t unload the property it is likely it will be passed over to a Duggar family member in need. Some fans think Josh and Anna are jockeying for ownership of the home. They would be the family most in need of a large estate. The couple is currently awaiting the arrival of their sixth child. They have also recently listed their current home for sale without any indication of where they plan to end up.
How many Duggars currently work in the real estate industry?
Several of the Duggar boys have followed in Jim Bob’s footsteps. Before getting married John purchased a home that he rented out while he awaited his bride. There is no word on whether he is still renting the property or if he is currently residing in it with his new wife.
Jason Duggar sparked courtship rumors after he purchased and flipped a home just after his 18th birthday. He allegedly walked away from the deal with a tidy profit and might be in the market for another property.
