‘Counting On’: This 1 Move by Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Has Fans Convinced They Are Not Welcome at Duggar Family Event
There may be some truth behind those Duggar family feud rumors after all. Counting On star Jill Duggar skipped out on Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s Christmas festivities this year, sparking more rumors about a growing feud between her husband, Derick Dillard, and the rest of the family. So what were Jill and Derick doing while the rest of the Duggars gathered at Jim Bob and Michelle’s house this Christmas?
Jill Duggar skips Christmas with her family
Not all of the Duggars made it to Jim Bob and Michelle’s not-so-humble abode this holiday season. Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, celebrated Christmas in Los Angeles this year, while Josh Duggar flew to Florida to spend the holiday with his wife’s side of the family.
Despite the absences, Jim Bob and Michelle still had a full house on their hands. Taking to YouTube, Jessa Duggar shared a quick video of the family gathering on Christmas, which featured most of the Counting On stars playing games and handing out gifts.
Jana, Joseph, John David, Josiah, Jedidiah, Joy-Anna, Jeremiah, James, Jason, Justin, Johannah, Jackson, Jordyn, Jennifer, and Josie Duggar were all featured in the clip.
Counting On fans, of course, were quick to notice that Jill Duggar was not included in the video. She also failed to share anything on her social media accounts, though her husband picked up the slack in that department.
Why did Jill avoid Christmas with her parents?
Derick posted a series of photos on Instagram over the Christmas break and revealed that they spent the holidays at their home.
“We had our own little Christmas, and some international friends joined us,” he told one fan
One Counting On fan then commented about how they never see Jill and Derick at her parent’s house anymore. Not one to let the comment slip by, Derick fired back by pointing out they are not on the show anymore.
“Does Jill and Derrick go to her parent’s house. I see so many pics of Duggar family, but they aren’t [ever] in the pics,” another fan commented.
“We’re not on 19 Kids and Counting anymore.” Derick shot back.
As fans may recall, Derick was seemingly fired from Counting On after he made some questionable remarks about the transgender community on Twitter. Derick has maintained that he quit the show on his own terms, yet his exit came weeks following his miscues on social media.
Fast forward to the present day and Derick recently got himself into some hot water after saying a few disparaging things about TLC and Jim Bob. The comments sparked rumors that Derick and Jim Bob are feuding, which actually seems likely at this point.
Derick slams Jim Bob
Back in October, Derick shared a series of tweets about how Jim Bob handles contracts with TLC. Derick claimed that Jim Bob negotiated all of the Counting On contracts himself and that he does not tell anyone about them until after the fact.
He also alluded to the idea that Jim Bob takes his children’s money and that TLC failed to pay him for things they filmed.
In a subsequent tweet, Derick blasted TLC for asking him and Jill to return to Counting On. He says that producers begged them to continue filming and that they stepped away because it was not worth the stress on their family.
In closing, Derick advised the network to get some lawyers because “a storm is inevitable.”
We still do not know if Derick is being serious about suing TLC, but he definitely has plans to expose the Duggars like never before.
Derick vows to write a tell-all
In light of all his comments towards Jim Bob, Counting On, and TLC, a fan told Derick that he should write about his experiences on the show.
Derick shockingly responded to the fan and revealed that he is actually working on a tell-all memoir right now. The only thing that is slowing him down is school. Derick is currently working on his law degree, and writing in-between classes has been a slow process.
We have no idea what Derick will include in the memoir, but we cannot wait to find out. In the meantime, it is safe to say that his feud with Jim Bob is not going to get any better.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC in 2020.
