‘Counting On’: Was Josh Duggar the Real Reason Jinger Duggar Was Fired Over Questionable ‘Core Values’?
Counting On star Jinger Duggar just lost her promotional deal with a Los Angeles based donut company called Fonuts. The business released a statement last week slamming Jinger and her family and assuring their customers that they made a mistake partnering with her. While we still do not know all of the details surrounding Jinger’s dismissal, some fans are convinced that Josh Duggar may have been the real reason she was fired.
Jinger gets fired from Fonuts
Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, moved to Los Angeles earlier this year so that he could finish his degree at a local seminary school. With her famous name behind her, it did not take long for Jinger to network in the area and land a promotional deal with Fonuts.
That deal, however, did not last long. Last Wednesday, Fonuts released a statement confirming that they decided to drop the Counting On star as a promo partner after finding out that her family does not represent their main values of transparency, kindness, and inclusivity.
“We apologize for our recent poor choice of promotional partner. We were shocked and dismayed to learn about who we were associating with,” the statement read. “We recognize we really made a mistake by not properly researching them. We have ended our partnership with Jinger Vuolo and the company that introduced us.”
Customers have expressed their frustrations with the Duggars online. According to Yahoo, Counting On fans have taken issue over the family’s history of homophobia and bigotry, which is probably what prompted Fonuts to dig a little deeper in the first place.
Following Jinger’s firing, many Fonut fans forgave the company for the mistake and vowed to support them moving forward.
Did Josh’s history get Jinger fired?
The Duggars have experienced quite a few scandals over the years, but none of them compares to Josh’s sexual molestation controversy. In 2015, the world discovered that Josh had molested several underage girls — and a few of them were his sisters.
To make things even worse, Jim Bob Duggar attempted to cover things up and did not file an official police report until a year after it occurred. The only reason anyone found out is because the report resurfaced over a decade later.
Josh’s scandal led to the cancellation of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s popular reality show, 19 Kids and Counting. TLC did not cancel the show’s spin-off, Counting On, which documents the couple’s children.
It is unclear if Josh’s scandal is the reason Fonuts decided to cut ties with Jinger. Josh is hardly the first one in the family to stir up controversy, so their decision could have been related to something else in the family’s history.
Did Jinger lose other sponsors?
Following Fonuts’ shocking announcement, it was just revealed that Jinger will not be going to the Rebecca Minkoff Mommy Pampering Event. The event was scheduled for last weekend, and the company’s website revealed that the Counting On star denied the invitation because of “personal circumstances.”
A few weeks back, Jinger announced her partnership with Minkoff’s company on social media, though that post has since been deleted.
“As the holiday season is in full swing, I thought it’d be a great time to give back! I’m excited to announce I’ve partnered with @rebeccamikoff to throw a mommy pampering event at their flagship location in Los Angeles,” Jinger shared.
The company did not offer any details about why Jinger could not make their event. They did, however, encourage people to attend and assured fans that their partnership with Toys For Tots was still going strong.
Counting On fans, of course, have speculated about why Jinger canceled the gig, with some linking the decision to what happened with Fonuts. The couple has not addressed what happened with the donut company.
‘Counting On’ stars under fire
Apart from Josh’s molestation scandal, the Duggars recently made headlines after the Department of Homeland Security reportedly raided some of their businesses. One of Josh’s companies was allegedly one of the main targets in the raid.
Jim Bob and Michelle have denied that the raids ever happened, while Homeland Security refused to confirm or deny the reports. Either way, it was bad press for the Counting On stars.
There have also been rumors that several of the Duggar children are feuding with Jim Bob and Michelle. There is no telling if any of these rumors are true, but there is little doubt that Jinger is probably regretting some of her family’s mistakes right about now.
The Duggars have not commented on Jinger’s firing from Fonuts. Hopefully, Jinger and her husband will address the issue on social media in the near future and clear things up a bit.
In the meantime, the new season of Counting On continues Tuesday nights on TLC.
