‘Counting On’: Why Is Everyone So Mean to Jill Duggar?
Jill Duggar just can’t catch a break. No matter what she does – whether it’s cooking dinner for her family or showing her husband some love on social media – the critics are always out in force, criticizing every little thing she does. Why do Duggar family fans have such a problem with everything Jill Dillard says and does?
There’s a black sheep in every family, and while many argue that Josh Duggar deserves that distinction, it doesn’t mean there’s much love for Jill Dillard. Critics are quick to hate on the young mother-of-two – here’s why.
She’s a terrible cook
One thing people can’t stand about Jill Duggar is the way she cooks – and they’re not afraid to talk about it. Since she learned to prepare meals from her mom, Michelle Duggar, Jill didn’t have much hope of becoming some kind of culinary wizard. That’s because Michelle often relies on highly processed foods to feed her large family.
Most recently, Jill came under fire for promoting a “Chicken on the Ritz” casserole, which features chicken, cream sauce, and Ritz crackers. Fans didn’t just think the dish looked gross – they also expressed concerns that it was sub-standard for feeding the couple’s young children.
She’s married to Derick Dillard
Derick Dillard is famous for being married to Jill Duggar, but as a human he’s extremely controversial in mainstream media. Not afraid to speak his mind, Dillard has come under fire for voicing his opinions on transgenderism. His tweets about Jazz Jennings saying that TLC was trying to make a reality “out of a non-reality” are what got the couple kicked off the show Counting On in the first place.
What does this have to do with Jill Duggar? Plenty. Not only do fans assume she shares the same views as her husband, but they also noticed how Jill willingly left Counting On to stand by her man. It’s only natural to assume that Jill Duggar has more in common with Derick Dillard than she publicly states.
Her parenting methods are odd
The Duggars aren’t like most other families – that’s what got them a reality show in the first place. But there are certain aspects of Jill Duggar’s parenting style that really bring out the mean streak in people. Almost every post she shares of her kids receives multiple negative comments. Everything from the way she “blanket trains” babies to stay in one spot to how she buckles a car seat has gotten tons of negative attention.
Is it justified? Sometimes. But there are some comments that are just plain mean for no reason.
She asked fans for money
Remember when Jill and Derick Dillard went on a religious pilgrimage to Central America? At that time in her life, Jill reached out to the Duggar family fan base asking for donations so she could “continue the good work” they were doing on their mission. Problem is, Jill never fully explained what that good work was.
Skeptical fans assumed she was just asking for a handout for her own purposes. However, that theory was never proven.
She’s jealous of her siblings
Sibling rivalry is only natural. But for Jill Dillard, that animosity has earned her a few more enemies than she’d have otherwise. Rumors persist that Jill is difficult to get along with, which naturally makes fans more critical of her. Part of the reason for that is her jealousy toward her other sisters.
It’s not fair how much criticism Jill Duggar receives. But just ask any reality TV celebrity – it all goes hand in hand with being famous.
