Craig Conover from ‘Southern Charm’ Jokes That He Prepared His Assistant for Parenthood

Craig Conover‘s ever-patient assistant Anna Heyward Hegamyer and husband Graham Hegamyer from Southern Charm just became parents. Conover shared a few sweet photos where he is holding the couple’s new baby, Caroline Smith.

Conover wrote, “Congratulations to two of my best friends  @grahamhegamyer & @annaheyward and their new bundle of joy Caroline Smith. Thanks for changing my life in the Bahamas and you’re welcome for the young child raising training I provided last summer.” Conover shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet his friends were the ones who introduced him to his happy place in the Bahamas.

Southern Charm fans “met” Conover’s assistant, Anna Heyward Hegamyer last season when she calmly and skillfully guided the pillow entrepreneur to meetings and gently kept him on track. Conover thinks the couple’s time managing him actually prepared them for parenthood.

The couple helped to ‘raise’ Sewing Down South

When Conover discovered the beautiful Bahamas, he also bonded with the Hegamyers. He considers them to be his closest friends and they were behind the motivation to get Sewing Down South off the ground. “While I was in the Bahamas I really started to find some inspiration. I borrowed a sewing machine from friends and just started to design stuff,” Conover shared with Showbiz Cheat Sheet in September.

He dished with Decider about how the relationship with the couple moved from friendship to business. “Her name is Anna-Heyward Smith and she’s a registered nurse, she worked in the ER for a while and then she went to trauma,” he explained.

Conover added, “She’s a friend of mine and we were on the boat this summer [in the Bahamas], and my designer Cintra kept trying to get a hold of me to make decisions about stuff even though I was like, ‘Cintra, just do it yourself.’ It was driving Anna-Heyward crazy so she started to respond to Cintra and they started texting back and forth, and she would do my phone calls.”

“I kinda felt bad she was doing all this for free but it also was really working for me,” he continued. “So I was like, why don’t we make this official since [she wasn’t working] down there anyway. She was able to really hold me accountable while I’m trying to learn how to hold myself accountable and it just worked. It was awesome but I don’t think I need it anymore which means she did her job. She helped me get to a place that I wanted to be and so it was good.”

Now they are really ready for parenthood

Conover joked that he “trained” the couple on how to take care of a child, after taking care of him. Graham Hegamyer actually couldn’t agree more. “You’ve trained us well. She’s getting a flashlight for Christmas…,” the new father joked.

Apparently the “flashlight incident” is an inside joke. ” lol don’t act like I’m over that,” Conover replied. Another person, who seemed to be in on the joke added, “@caconover you can never get over commander graham and the flashlight incident :).”
