The last season of Criminal Minds premieres on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 9 p.m. E.S.T. with a two-hour premiere. Fans are understandably excited to see how the final 10 episodes will tie everything together. The premiere will feature two episodes that will air consecutively.

What will the premiere be about?

According to TV Insider, the premiere will start with everyone’s favorite BAU agents tracking down a serial killer and apparently, guest stars will come into play as well. The premiere is called “Under the Skin” and will show an unsub resembling The Chameleon, or Everett Lynch (Michael Mosley).

The second episode, which is called “Awakenings,” will mean trouble for a member of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Someone will end up in the hospital. The others will search for Lynch as well as his daughter Grace (Alex Jennings).

Luckily, it looks like there will be some good moments for some fan favorites. Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) will visit with his mother Diana (Jane Lynch), and we can only hope it will be good for them both.

What’s going to happen with JJ and Reid?

Fans are still hoping to see how things play out between Jennifer “JJ” Jareau (A.J. Cook) and Reid. JJ told Reid a secret while being held at gunpoint that could change everything for them both.

“Spence, um, I’ve always loved you. And I was just too scared to say it before. And now things are just really too complicated to say now,” JJ said. “I’m sorry, but you should know.”

The situation is obviously perplexing for fans, and even more so now that a new image has been released hinting at what’s coming.

A new photo of JJ and Reid has viewers seriously confused

TVLine recently released a #2020FirstLook series exclusive image of the season 15 premiere. Reid is holding JJ’s arm and she is holding his as well. They could be on a case, or maybe even a date. JJ seems to be pretty pleased and Reid seems content at the same time. Up front and center is the wedding ring on JJ’s finger that reminds us that she is not in fact really available because she’s married with children.

Obviously, the situation is going to bring conflict for everyone involved unless they can sort things out. Not to mention the hunt for Lynch isn’t going to be easy. It sounds like the premiere of the final season of Criminal Minds is going to have everything fans are looking for.
