‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’: Here Are All of the Guest Stars for Season 9

The new trailer for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 is here, and it gives viewers just a small glimpse at some of the guest stars who Larry David will be having painfully awkward interactions with this time.

The official Season 9 trailer features guest star Bryan Cranston, who appears to be playing Larry David’s therapist. There’s also Carrie Brownstein, playing a colleague of David’s who takes two days off of work because she’s constipated. But there are many more guests who have been confirmed for the upcoming season and are not in the trailer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, other celebrities who will appear in this season of Curb include Elizabeth Banks, Jimmy Kimmel, Ed Begley Jr., Lauren Graham, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad, Elizabeth Perkins, June Diane Raphael and Judge Judy. If there are any other guest stars in the upcoming season, their appearances have not yet been made known. This is in addition to returning players like Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, J.B. Smoove, Richard Lewis, Bob Einstein, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.

It’s unclear who will be playing themselves and who will be playing a fictional character in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Although Larry David stars as Larry David on the HBO comedy series, only some of his guest stars also play themselves, while others play fictional characters. For instance, the show has featured Ted Danson, Rosie O’Donnell, Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, Ricky Gervais, Michael J. Fox and others as themselves, while Bob Odenkirk, Melissa McCarthy, Bob Einstein, Vivica A. Fox, and others play fictional characters. Bryan Cranston seems to be playing a therapist rather than the actor Bryan Cranston, while it’s unclear whether Carrie Brownstein is playing herself.

We don’t know much about what these guest stars will be doing in the upcoming season except that Lauren Graham will be Larry David’s love interest, according to Entertainment Weekly. She won’t be playing herself, though; rather, she’ll be appearing as an NBC censor. Graham previously told TV Line that the character she plays on Curb is “someone who has very colorful language” and who is therefore “completely not me at all.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm is about to return after a six-year hiatus. From the trailer, it looks like a pretty typical season of Curb is in store, but the cast and crew have emphasized that it goes to a pretty insane place in the second half.

“…[W]hat he’s been doing provides the jumping off point for the insane first half of the season that gets much crazier in the second half,” executive producer Jeff Schaffer told Variety.

This may be related to what Mary Steenburgen previously said about Season 9: that it might be a bit controversial.

“Um, it will definitely cause people to ask me questions,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re going to stir up a little bit of a hornet’s nest with it, I’m afraid, but it’s how he saw it and what he wanted to do…I don’t want it to ruin it for anybody. There are aspects of it that are a little challenging for me. And I think for Ted, too. But it will be interesting. ”

Curb Your Enthusiasm returns on HBO on October 1.
