Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars starts in March, so the cast has been announced. It looks like it will be another great season considering that the cast includes many celebrities we haven’t seen in years, but love. There is even some drama behind-the-scenes already.
As always, the competition will be tough and entertaining. So what should fans know in order to get ready for the new season? Here is everything we know about Season 24 of Dancing with the Stars.
1. There will be multiple reality TV crossovers
There have been all types of celebrities on the show, including reality television stars, and this season there are multiple reality TV crossovers. One is Erika Jayne who stars in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She actually has a little dancing experience since she released a studio album in the past. She’s also not the first housewife from Beverly Hills to go on the show, because Lisa Vanderpump was previously on the series.
There is another crossover with Nick Viall, who starred on The Bachelor. The casting decision actually came out before the end of his season of The Bachelor. This could mean that Nick is going to spend a lot of time away from his new significant other.
2. There is now a feud within Bachelor Nation over the show
The show hasn’t even started yet and there is already drama! When it was announced that Nick Viall would be on the show, former star of The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe, made a big reveal. One fan tweeted, “Why does a bachelorette never get this gig @BachelorABC?!? I wanted to see [Kaitlyn Bristowe] shake her tail feather!”
Bristowe then tweeted, “Actually I was offered it had the contract & Mike Fliess [sic] told me I wasn’t allowed. He said he didn’t want people wanting fame after his show.” That doesn’t seem fair, but now that Mike Fleiss has been called out, there could be a change in the future. Fleiss actually responded on Twitter with, “@kaitlynbristowe has my total support if she wants to appear on DWTS!!! #TheBachelor.”
3. There will be multiple Olympians in the lineup
The reality stars just might not make it far given the other competitors. There are many Olympians in teh cast, including Simone Biles who took home a gold and bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in gymnastics.
Then there is Nancy Kerrigan, who is a silver medal figure skating Olympian. Kerrigan is also remembered for being attacked by her rival, Tonya Harding’s ex-husband.
4. Heather Morris will be the frontrunner
It’s very early, but we feel pretty comfortable calling Heather Morris the frontrunner. She previously starred on Glee, but she was dancing before that. She appeared on So You Think You Can Dance in Season 2. She also toured with Beyoncé.
5. There are celebrities who will give you nostalgia
Of course, a big part of the show has been their tendency to bring back celebrities we haven’t seen in a while. So the rest of the cast is filled with some old, familiar faces. That includes Mr. T from The A-Team, Chris Kattan from Saturday Night Live, and Charo. We also have some current stars set to be on the show, including Bonner Bolton and Normani Kordei.
The season has also cast two professional athletes, David Ross who played for the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs and Rashad Jennings, who was one of the best NFL running backs.
6. This season will include the show’s 400th episode
The show is coming up on 400 episodes, which is definitely a big deal. It’s still unclear how they will celebrate the event, but it has already been announced that there will be a few familiar faces coming back to the show. Hopefully, we will get to see their new moves.
7. Kym Herjavec is returning to the show
Kym left the show after getting married to Robert Herjavec. So it will be very exciting to many fans that she will be back on the show. Her partner is going to be Mr. T. On past seasons, she was paired with Tom Williams, Hines Ward, and Donny Osmond.
8. Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd will also be returning
There will also be the return of professional dancers, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd this season. The couple just had their first child. It was a baby boy, who they named Shai Aleksander. This might be the year Maksim will win, considering he is paired with Heather Morris, and has gotten close to winning before.
9. Derek Hough isn’t returning this season
Since there are some big returns happening, many fans might be wondering if professional dancer, Derek Hough would be returning this season. Unfortunately, he won’t be coming back. He is branching out to acting and will be in writer Kourtney Kang‘s upcoming pilot.
10. Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama declined to be on the show
Michelle Obama is no longer the First Lady, which leaves her open to new opportunities. Also, Hillary Clinton is no longer running for office. The show decided to go after both of them due to their new availability, but they reportedly turned the opportunity down. It’s too bad, it would have been interesting to watch.
