Why Does Daniel Radcliffe Think A ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot Is On Its Way?

We live in a time when reboots and revivals are all the rage in Hollywood. From beloved television series like Will & Grace to movies like Fantastic Four, or even live-action remakes of Disney classics like The Lion King and Aladdin –it seems like Hollywood is reluctant to come up with anything original these days. Unfortunately, for those who loved and revered J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series and the sensational film franchize starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson –a Harry Potter reboot might also be on its way.

In fact, Radcliffe who starred in all eight films as the “Boy Who Lived” thinks a reboot of the beloved film franchise in inevitable at this point.

Why does Daniel Radcliffe think a Harry Potter reboot in inevitable?

While promoting his new TBS comedy series Miracle Workers –Daniel Radcliffe spoke about the franchise that made him a bonafide Hollywood star —Harry Potter. He told IGN that he fully expects a reboot of the Wizarding World. He explained, “I’m sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime. It will be interesting to see how long those films stay — it feels like there’s a sacredness around them at the moment, but that’ll go, the shine will wear off at some point.”

Is Daniel Radcliffe excited about a reboot of Harry Potter?

When it comes to the reboots, though it would be a bit bittersweet, Radcliffe has nothing against the revival of the franchise for a new generation. He revealed that he’s really been enjoying the prequel —Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them and the sequel —Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.

He explained, “It’ll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I’m fascinated to watch. To a certain extent with things like the play and Fantastic Beasts, I think people are still interested in talking to me about it, but nothing’s been happening in that area. At the moment, I’m very much enjoying playing lots of different stuff.”

Would Daniel Radcliffe ever star as Harry Potter again?

Though Radcliffe doesn’t have anything against a Harry Potter reboot, don’t expect him to paint that lightning bolt scar on his forehead ever again. In 2016 he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m never going to close that door, but I think I’ll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it.”

Is there a Harry Potter reboot in the works?

If you look at the reboots of Spider-Man, and the length of time between Tobey McGuire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland’s performances –a Harry Potter reboot could appear on our cinema screens in the next few years. Thankfully aside from finishing out the disappointing Fantastic Beats franchise, and her continuous updates on Pottermore –J.K. Rowling hasn’t said a peep about rebooting Harry Potter. Still, knowing how things in Hollywood work, we might be dusting off our wands and pulling out our cloaks in the next few years.
